It also occurred to me that it would be nice to be able to mark teas as once-this-was-in-my-cupboard as opposed to what is currently in your cupboard and possibly a way to designate how many times you have bought a particular tea.

Could the tasting notes work to note that? I mean there are some cases where you drink tea out of your home, but still. May work.

Yeah, it does sort of. But I’m a bit of a tag addict. I’d like to be able to click and see all the teas I’ve bought in a certain year, or had at restaurants, or bought at a particular store, etc., with one click. Lists are just an easy tool to organize large chunks of information into more manageable bits.

A chat bar at the bottom of the site would be an excellent way of making fellow tea-loving friends!

I don’t know how many times this has been suggested- maybe Jason will listen soon:)

I didn’t even know I wanted this, but I had a dream last night that I went to my shopping list and could check mark the ones I wanted to purchase. One stop shopping! I know this would be way too hard to implement, but I was really happy until I woke up. This might mean I’m spending too much time here…

New here, just exploring the site atm, and have a few thoughts.

I drink tea gongfu style, which means very short steeps and lots of leaves, which also means that

1) The “steeping time” function on a tea is pretty useless, because the minimum is 15 seconds. Since I steep my tea multiple times in any given session and the times will vary, is there a possibility of having a “gongfu style brewing” checkbox and dispense with the steep time that way?

2) Ditto for water temp, which sometimes changes as I make my tea.

Additional feature for the ‘Places’ section, concerning closed shops:
1) have the ‘closed’ status visible on the list page
2) have an option on the list page to show only shops that are open (not closed)
or add open/closed to the ‘filters’.

I definitely agree w/ your 2nd point.

It would be nice if the closed shops could be removed from the list. I know one of the ones listed near me has been closed for a couple of years now.

I finally finished reading through this topic! Whew.
To bump the suggestion(s) and add a small twist – would it be possible to add an (optional?) tab on the user profiles for pictures like a limited size album? Heck – if server space is an issue, just providing a slot to insert an image URL like for the tea images would work for linking to photobucket or flikr accounts. I really like taking pictures of the tea I prepare, the setup I use, and who doesn’t love showing off their armada of teapots and utensils?
I know I’d use this as a way to add tags to teas showing more specific ways of how I’m getting a particular tea to work best.

I would love the ability to rate teaware as well as teas. This seems like as good a place as any for that!

One quick suggestion! You know when you’re writing a review and you add in your water temp and your time… maybe there could be another option for how much of the tea we used? Like 1 teaspoon, 1 and a half, 2 teaspoons, etc. I tend to experiment a lot with it. :)

In that case, it would be good to have multiple measurement options too. I usually measure my tea leaves by weight rather than volume.

Both have been suggested, by me and others. I actually suggested the top portion of the tasting note be a bunch of blank fields for everything to leaf amount to water volume. I’d fill in everything, but if a person doesn’t want to that’s no big deal.

The drop down menu for choosing who you want to send your PM to is great, because you don’t have to remember the exact spelling of their username or a url or something.

But could it please not be pre-selected to the first person on the list? Like maybe the first one was just a — and then the system would force you to choose somebody if you forgot, like it does if you forget to fill out the subject line.

Because I just totally sent a very long PM meant for someone else to a completely random person…
And I’ve received a few that weren’t meant for me as well, likely because my username starts with an A so it would be near the top for many people who could PM me.

Maybe a way to flag teas that are redundant so they can be deleted, or redirected to the other posting for them? I see that a lot with David’s Tea teas, because sometimes they’re listed under both ‘DavidsTea’ and ’David’s Tea’.
