Which new features do you want the most?

I would like to be able to add a note to a tea on my shopping list, since I wouldn’t really add a “tasting note”. It would be nice to add notes to teas in the cupboard, too.

I second that idea. I often put things on my shopping list based on what other Steepster reviewers say, and it would be great to be able to put a note. I’m wondering if anyone is even looking at these suggestions?

I know this might have been asked….but can the rating scale show the score we are giving the tea as we slide it left or right? It would be easier to give an accurate score this way.

I’m new, so I could be out of the loop, but anyway, I think it’d be good if the website noticed that you’ve reviewed a number of things that someone else has and would then suggest you follow them. Also, somehow making the “related teas” feature more comprehensive could be really helpful, but I don’t know if you’d do it by notes or by ingredients, then. For example, technically, a lot of teas could be related to a relatively straight-up black tea, so ingredients may not be that reliable a way to do it, but sometimes people get such different notes that you couldn’t really do it by notes either, because people would disagree and it would ruin it. I think the site could learn a lot from Fragrantica, a site a bit like this but about perfume. If you have a look at this page as an example http://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/L-Artisan-Parfumeur/Havana-Vanille-6745.html, you can see that one part has the company-listed notes (tea equivalent would be ingredients) and then next to it are the notes as picked up by users (tea equivalent could be user-rated notes/flavours). I think it’s also good how at the top of each fragrance page, they have a scent profile ranking. This could apply to tea ( a tea could have for example grassy at the top, then maybe spicy underneath, with fruity after that). Users can also place votes on similar fragrances that the product reminds them of, which people can then click on and investigate themselves. A great feature is the large side section of related perfumes. Here they do it by notes instead of name, but that’s easier to apply to perfume than tea.

This is a lot of stuff, but I thought it’d be good to put out there just to toss some ideas around. These ideas are useful on Fragrantica because they allow users to more easily classify the product, consider if it was/will be right for them, compare it to what they might already like/have, etc. I think that’s really good for users, and it could be applied here.

Also, when you search a term, it’d be really cool to be able to view the results in different ways, like the highest rated ones first or something.

when we are searching for a tea, it should take special characters as similar as a classic one. E.g. Thé du Japon and The du Japon should send to the same tea…today we can only find the way it was entered first. Sometimes I think a tea isn’t in the database because I type Noel (as I think an English writer would type it with his qwerty keyboard and it is sometimes, but not all the times, entered à la française Noël)

This is a good idea! It also makes it easier for those of us who don’t speak French and therefore don’t know what all the little accents are. Not understanding them make them super-difficult to remember.

yes and it would work for other languages as in Danish you use letters like this one : ø , Germans use a lot of ö etc…
The idea is most of people can find out the teas without problem

I might be a bit too far in the back for anyone to see this but:

Adagio Teas has a very cool section of their website for blends. You name the blend, make a picture, choose the teas you want in it (and the %s of each tea). It’s a cool way to show off what you like and how you like it. It would definitely be a cool feature to add to this site :D

It would be nice to have a program that allows up to track what we’ve drank in a given day without having to make a tasting note. I drink some teas 4/5 days a week so obviously am not going to make a tasting note. It would be nice to be able to look back and say “oh wow i really went through a green period” or whatever.

You can click the “write tasting note” button and then click “write something later” on the tasting note popup. That will log your tea without a tasting note so you don’t have to worry about writing something every time.

We don’t currently show teas consumed within a given time period, but if you’re tracking that we’d have that data and be able to show it later down the road. Right now you can at least see how many times you’ve logged something though, which could still be useful.

I’m sure this may have been mentioned already since the thread is huge…either way, I want to have my say and suggest a Steepster App for iPhone and Android! So convenient and needed! :)

Needed very badly indeed. I can’t believe there isn’t one yet.

I definitely wouldn’t mind an Android app.

I would love this as well.

my few cents- I would love to see a “standard pantry” type list as part of/in addition to the cupboard list- so there is a way to track/show off what you fear running out of/rotate through regularly, as well as anything currently there- which could include passing fancy/gifted teas, and many not include all your favorites.

Also- perhaps a space to have a basic journal that is personal/not just tea notes? Would be nice, as another member stated above to track tea drinking habits, and I’d love to reflect on days with/without tea, among just seasonal observances.

I like these suggestions.

Seconded!

I think having a cupboard tab option to separate True Teas and Herbals/tisanes might be nice too.
