Which new features do you want the most?
I could have sworn I saw this posted but I couldn’t find it to reply on so if it is, I apologize… but that states my point. How about a search box for the forums? That way a repeat feature/steepster select request or forum topic isn’t posted.
Does the search work for this thread? I never find what I’m looking for when I search even though I know it’s here… So I’ll post my idea here: not only the ability to have separate ratings for each tea, but choose a general tea rating or one specific to that cuppa. I’d like to know if a black tea is crap oversteepedf for 15 min, but I don’t want that affecting the general rating of the tea. Also, as far as general ratings go… I thought I read how the rating is determined and it wasn’t just simply the sum of the scores divided by the number of scores given. If I am remembering correctly, can it please be changed to the way I described?
Could it be arranged that when we click on the “last updated” link it takes us to the latest update? Can the word “reply” in the dashboard be linked to what post it’s refering to?
Option to list birthday and other important dates on profile so we can send gifts to each other.
It’d be nice when we reply to something that we’re taken back to the page we were on and not the last page of the topic.
So maybe I’ve missed it – my friends and roommates tell me that I don’t have the “power of look” – but I just can’t find a way to add a tea or company to the site. I’ve looked everywhere I can think of. Maybe it’s because I’m a brand new member that I can’t do this?
I get most of my tea from Indigo Tea Company but right now only two of their teas are available for rating and commenting. I’d love to add more! There are also a few tea shops in my town (Missoula, MT) that I’d like to have on the site.
So if members are not currently allowed to add teas or companies to the site then I’d like to suggest this as a feature. And I support the option of flagging duplicate entries that was suggested earlier. It would be a great help should member submission of new teas be instituted.
There’s a search box on the far right of the black bar at the top of the screen. Type the tea you want to log. If the tea isn’t logged, it’ll take you to a page that says “Hmm, we’re not familiar with that tea yet. Want to help others find it in the future? Add it to our database.” Just click that link to put in the tea info.
Thanks for explaining that Cofftea. Also, you can’t add a company to Steepster without adding a tea from that company. So when you add a new tea from a company that isn’t yet in the system, that company will automatically be added.
“And I support the option of flagging duplicate entries that was suggested earlier.” is a duplicate entry…
I read through this thread and I don’t remember seeing this suggested so here goes…
I’d love the ability to rank a company on aspects like the price and quality of their products.
Good idea. We have some plans to help give tea companies a greater prescience and I think this would be a great feature for that section. Great suggestion, thanks.
Genuine comments/discussion/improvements on someone is great, but instead of having post a new comment just to say “I agree!” could there be a little box by the reply button that simply says “+1” and counts how many times the button has been clicked (make it so a user can only log “+1” once) so we don’t get 28 “I agree!” comments?
This would fit in with some of the other suggestions around surfacing different types of tasting notes/comments. Rating them funny/helpful/etc. Thanks.
I would like to see a mobile (WAP) version of steepster. I tend to look at things alot from my phone.
iPhone app would be fantastic. Also, I’m having trouble with the little slidey bars on my iPhone display. Trying to slide the marker is interpreted as trying to move the page around on the screen. Some other method of making the ratings would possibly work better — numerical 1-10 or radio buttons or something might be an idea to get past the slider bar issue.
