Maybe I’m missing it but I can’t figure out how to send a message to someone who isn’t following me.

Dexter said

You can’t. You have to be following each other to PM. :))

Angrboda said

Doesn’t have to be mutual following. You can send messages to people who are following you, even if you aren’t following them. They can then reply to that message because you initiated the conversation, but they can’t send you one without it being a reply.

Hello, I know ‘good-tea’. Today whilst flyfishing at the dock in Dana Point, calif. the guy next to me was kidding and said he’d caught two rock-cod, I spend an hour trying to get a rock-cod to show him, but my arm went numb, and when I went to show him how big the fish was I reached out one arm and siad ‘it was this big’, heh
Oolong sip-down commence, I’m not one for the more camphor tasting roasted oolongs, and this one had to pass the test of a long steeping with miniscule amount of leafs, it’s fine.

I just joined steepster today and I like it so far! It would be nice on the tea page to have an indicator of price, maybe like yelp does ($ to indicate inexpensive, $$$$ to indicate very expensive).

I would love to have a way to search by tea company and then sort by review score.

+1 I would love to have more robust “Search” options! This would be a great addition for someone, like me, who is new to the world of loose tea.

I am new tot he site so not 100% familiar with every feature. But I would like to see a place where I can sort by tea company and browse through all the teas they have with reviews.
As well if instead of just in the discussion board you have a section for tea swapping which includes features like a button you can click and vouch for someone you’ve had a good swap with ( like a swap rating) and an add on to our cupboard where we can click each tea, showing its available for swap or not.

If you go to a company page (by going to one of their tea’s pages and clicking the company name), you can see all of their teas on Steepster. It also lists how many tasting notes, each one has, and there are sorting options.

There is a thread for tea swap vouching: http://steepster.com/discuss/5163-i-would-vouch-for-username-tea-swap-credibility but your suggestions for profile-integration are great!

Wouldn’t it be nice if tea cured the epidemic violence in the Middle East?
And if transient imbibing of catechins in tea prevented world hunger

I apologize if this has already been suggested, or f this is available and I just can’t figure out how to do it, but…

I would love to be able to search for a keyword or flavor (Ex: “Lemon”) and be able to sort the results by rating.

This would help noobs like me identify new teas to try based on our tastes. It would also help experienced users identify new vendors to try.

+1 … though this has been suggested, still would be great.

I would love a blog function on the site. Like full-blown integrated feeds. I think it’d be a great way to find other bloggers, talk to each other, and would kind of make steepster the mecca for tea discussions.

I think the forums could use a facelift, too. I love the simple look of it but I think organization could be a bit more streamlined? Better category / subcategory organization and breadcrumbs to navigate around quickly.

It would be great if there was somewhere you could click to see all of the threads you’ve commented on. Sometimes its hard to find a thread that I comment on a few weeks ago and the search feature doesn’t really make it much easier.

I think this is a good idea.
