Which new features do you want the most?

I like this idea for the check box for iced tea so you can still explain the steeping process before the chill.

If they did this, I would prefer it to be a mouse over thing where the numbers show as you move your mouse over the tea.

What features/aspects would you compare?

Well I just wanted to compare several black teas just a moment ago. I just opened a few tabs and switched between them. I mean it isn’t a pain, but a side by side comparison would be nice. I was just looking at the ratings just now.

You still weren’t very specific as to WHAT you want to compare. If it’s just ratings, or even similar teas, that would be one of the “if you like x tea, try y tea” feature.

Haha, I wasn’t specific, because I don’t really know what specific features I’d want. It isn’t a recommendation feature. Haven’t you wanted a side by side comparison of several tea? Like say you’re looking to purchase either Tea X, Tea Y or Tea Z.

Then how do you expect them to implement the feature the way you want? And if it’s not a feature recommendation, what is it doing in this thread. I see your theory, but it doesn’t work for teas. Tea isn’t like computers or microwaves. The only things you really could really compare would be price per cup (since the size of the packages would differ), over all rating, and shipping charges. Come to think of it that would be nice. Then you wouldn’t have to go to each individual site and do math to figure out what the cheapest option would be.

Exactly ^. I mean it has potential, but it really depends if they implement some more fields. Like I would love to see which tea has high tannin levels or which one gets bitter if you steep too long. But they don’t have an option for that yet, so the comparison doesn’t work.

I can answer the last one for you- most teas get bitter or at the very least way to flavor concentrated for consumption if over steeped.

Don’t compare too much…just buy them all! Here’s what I do: if it interests me in the least, I add it to my shopping list, and then I revisit the shopping list to do a little more investigating and comparing. Yes, you have to flip back and forth but I find I do that a lot with online shopping anyway.

@Tea4Me, not everyone has the monetary or storage ability to buy everything in sight. If 2 companies offer the same tea at the same quality, I’m gonna buy the cheaper one (w/ shipping if applicable factored in).

Yes, I was teasing about buying them all.

I also like it quite a bit. It’s much less intimidating and much better organized!

Any chance we’ll be able to get a Decaffeinated category for tea?

Glad you like it! More categories/fields for tea pages are on our radar for the near-future :)

I LOVE that it now says so-and-so drank instead of so-and-so logged. That’s the way it should be. Tea is drank and not logged:)

I know this should go w/ my idea for a field to put where we got the tea… but I can’t find it. I’m tired of looking and there is no search feature.

That one might be specific to you since mine seems to be working fine – new ones in bold and everything. You might need to contact them directly to see why yours isn’t updating.

Mine’s fine over here as well. It’s actually pretty useful to have everything separated out!

Does anyone else have a delay in the notices? For example, mine says Jason’s reply was made 13 min ago, but here it says “about 1 hour ago”. I click the discussions tab freqently so I end up reading most comments long before they appear as a notice, get confused, and end up spending forever trying to hunt down a new post because I don’t want to miss anything.

@Cofftea… we were having some issues with the forum comments being recorded as notices (I think that’s why you were seeing the delay). Should be fixed now…let us know if you’re still seeing a big delay.

@Mike, No delay but now they’re both in recent activity and notices… kinda reduntant.

I like the pop up window idea, but I think you should also have to sign into the chat room separate from your steepster account (just by re-entering your screen name and pass word). And of course a group chat should be separate from a private IM.

Or at least an “enter chat room” button instead of making it appear automaticallly. That’d work too.

i should have been more clear :p i got excited that no one wrote it so i started typing away. i ment for that to a part of it so we dont have an annoying chat bubble on our screen if we dont wanna chat

A chatroom would be a nice addition. Would be even better if it was not a java based chat, but really anthing would be nice.

maybe a list of 5-6 people who rated the tea the same as you. like have so its based on rateing and user activity. for example a less active user (some one who hasnt logged anything in 3 weeks-2 months) is moved down the list

That’s already been suggested, except the part about being based in part on user activity. I’m not sure I like that idea. When I want to find people w/ similar tea tastes as me it’s their tea tastes I’m interested in, not how much they’re active.
