I got two of the three shipping notices so far for my orders and everything is listed…

Two of the THREE?! You are making me look good! :)

Yea well, I ordered some black dragon pearls the first night. Then earl grey creme went on sale the next morning so I got three pounds. Then I figured it was cheap, so I got another two pounds. Gotta love an addiction eh?

Dustin said

So five pounds of one tea?! Must be good! Makes me regret not giving it a try. At least it’s a healthy addiction. That’s what I tell myself anyways.

black743 said

Yes, well Earl Grey Creme is my go-to tea each morning. However, two pounds are for a friend. It’s very soothing and calming. If they ever discontinue this, I will be pressed to find a suitable replacement.

@black843 – don’t feel bad – I cleaned my local store out of almost 3-4 pounds of Swiss Vervaine.

Wow darby and that blend is so light and fluffy! How many tins/bags full?

darby select said

LOL – those new purple tins they have – bought 5 and most had 9-10oz in each. I’m SO sad that they discontinued it as it’s my go to tea when I have a sore throat or heartburn! I don’t get sick easily but often get sore throats.

I got a notice for one of my earl grey creme orders saying it was back ordered and they would have it within 30 days. The other earl grey creme order shipped just fine.

I just saw this post and thought everyone would find it interesting:

If that’s how Starbucks is spending nearly a billion dollars, I’d say the comapny’s days are numbered. Are they just taking it all to re-SKU it? Why can’t they do that to the new tea orders? Seems like a great way to anger customers to me.

momo said

Wow, beyond Black Friday and the month after, could Starbucks have picked a more ridiculous time to do this?

black743 said

Is this all for re-skuing? That’s just dumb.

darby select said

WOW! I do like Starbucks – so I’m confident that this will all work out in the end, but it does seem an odd way to do it. Hopefully they won’t get rid of the best sellers like Samurai Chai and Ayurvedic White!

Uh-oh.. looks like the post was deleted. Did Big Brother Starbucks not like it?

Here’s another post they made that has another person talking about it too:

Maybe so Rachel. Remember that Best Buy employee that made his own cartoon about customers asking for the Iphone? Best Buy did not like. I think he got canned for his humor.

Did they discontinue the Copper Knot?

Have you tried to find it in store?

People are in the teavana Facebook page saying they discontinued all the teas on sale. I’m not sure where they get this unless they just assume.

I am thinking they discontinued them because they were the (reportedly) pesticide laden ones. GAAH! And I just received confirmation for my order, which included a half-pound of the sale gyokuro, black dragon pearls and golden monkey. Am I going to be making myself a cancer cocktail when I brew these?? I’m not even sure if I want them anymore.

That would be half the store! Nah.

@Infusin_Susan: FYI, they offered all employees a free pound of that same pre-sale tea…and managers, regional/area managers and trainers two free pounds. If that tea is truly full of enough pesticides to drop you, guess they’re getting rid of witnesses quickly, huh? :P

black743 said

Yea, they finally came out and said they were replacing with new harvest. I have an odd feeling that means raising the prices a bit.

Well, my Teavana order landed today. Everything I ordered was in there. It doesn’t look or smell funny. I wish I had never read about the pesticide allegations, because I just can’t get that out of my head. I am wondering if I should rinse it before I steep it — would that wash off some of the chemicals, assuming any were present?

momo said

You can’t wash off the pesticide used while it was growing. I really don’t think there’s anything to worry about because we have no idea how they tested everything, and it’s likely it wasn’t as an infusion.

Eh perhaps not but a rinse would not hurt either! There are some folks that rinse all their teas. And I definitely wouldn’t cold brew any of those before rinsing with hot water, just to be safe, actually Teavana never promotes cold brewing. But I’m not going to speculate.

Interesting that my boyfriend and I both had our packages shipped to the same place and ordered the same day… I paid for the $10 shipping option, he took the free shipping option, they arrived the same day.

Guess I won’t waste my money on that anymore…

Yay, it’s here! I bought some of the rectangular tins and man are they huge! I wish they came in half sizes cause it would take a lot of tea to fill one and it might go stale before I finished it. Everything was right in my order although it wasn’t as much tea as I thought it would be. Got a few new teas to try. I’m excited!

Bubbles said

Guess it’s a good thing that my rectangular tins are on backorder. It will give me time to find a place to put them!

Dustin said

I’m guessing they could hold 4 cups worth and that’s kind of a lot for tea. I bought 8oz of My Morning Mate and there is still a little room in the tin. Some stuff I bought only 2oz of to try and they look a little sad hiding out in the bottom of the tin. For as much as Teavana tells customers the importance of using a tin so the tea doesn’t go stale, they sure are hinting to stock up and hoard with those huge tins. Smaller tins and refilling more often would provide fresher tea and get people back to the store sooner. There were some tins in the store with close out tea that were even more massive.

Bubbles said

I purchased them thinking that they were 1oz tins. They are 10oz tins. Oops.
I bought 8oz of MateVana, but now I’m not sure I want to put it all into the tin at once, for the reasons you just mentioned. I wonder if it would be better to keep the 2oz pouches sealed and open them one at a time.
I wonder if it would be better off to use a tin or two for my teabags…it drives me nuts that my Red Rose just sits there going stale as I try to drink the 100 bags as fast as I can, lol.

Dustin said

I was debating the same thing, but I really wanted to fill the tin and have all of the same kind of tea in once place. I opened all the bags.

Did anyone figure out what happened with the Copper Knot? It never went on clearance but they seemed to sell out anyway. This is a very good tea and I hope they didn’t drop it (but if they had, I would figure it would have been on clearance).
