When you think about it, it’s so cheap per cup, even the more pricey/high quality teas. I also tend to hide my new teas though, even though I don’t think anyone in my life thinks I have a problem with it since I do stay well within my budget. I get some funny looks now and again, but moreso people are interested to sniff all my new acquisitions. I do feel guilty though looking at all that tea that I just know I am not going to be able to drink before it goes stale. And then I do a swap and feel better!

I was very naughty and ordered a bunch from Butiki Teas and Verdant Tea… but to be fair there was a good sale/coupon… so I just used my vacation fund since I’m not going anywhere this year :D

I actually did that quite a bit, though we’ve recently got to a ‘critical mass’, so to speak, where we’re at the point that we can’t reasonably drink all of the tea we have in a reasonable amount of time. So we’re cutting back a little bit.

Until Frank puts out something new and crazy… and Verdant actually has a coupon… help!

I do when I’m at home – my mum doesn’t understand it and thinks it’s a waste; my dad doesn’t really understand it either but he doesn’t care as long as it’s my own money.

My roommate, though, is a dear about it – she sees me bringing new tea in (I have to order it online since there aren’t any shops out where I go to school) and she just goes “What’s wrong, honey?”
I love her to bits, of course.

I get those look all the time from my boyfriend but as far as I’m concerned it’s none of his business – it’s my money, not his after all.

My hubby thinks I have too much tea and that I talk about to way too much but he is still ok with with it, he says its an obsession(did i spell that right?) but at least its a healthy obsession so he don’t mind much, he does give me the weird eyes tho when I get odd teas lol

I know my husband thinks I buy too much tea and he harps on me when I buy brewed tea instead of making some at home and taking it to work. The way I see it is it’s an easier way to taste it before buying a tin and sometimes I would just rather try something new. I may have a lot and buy a lot but it’s cheaper than shoes! lol

It happened to me once. I ordered from verdant a few I wanted to try, followed by a re-stock/try new ones from phoenix and a package from yunnan sourcing I had almost forgotten about (I do cheap shipping so it takes forever). When I went to get my packages (I was expecting one, two at the most), I opened the boxes and though “Oh no, NOW I have to re-organize and properly sort everything in containers”. The thing is to learn from those things (not that I ever regretted them), but at least be more conscious about want vs need.

I’d recommend having a budget set for your tea and you can split that between re-stocking your favorites and trying out new ones. It also helped me thin down my favorite ones.

Fortunately, my beau and BFFs are also into tea, so there is no judgment from them. Family can be a little less forgiving, but I never spend money I don’t have, so I am not concerned. If I can’t judge their gas and beer expenses, then they can leave my tea alone. : ) That said, I reached critical mass quite a while ago and now am happily questing to drink down some of my tea.
