Common Ground: Tea and Judaism

Just wondering, are there any other Steepsters here who are Jewish? Practicing or not practicing, it doesn’t matter.

I’m non-practicing. I live in Israel, which is a challenge unto itself, and that’s about as practicing as I’m going to get :)

Do you observe/drive on Shabbat? I know when I was in Israel (specifically Jerusalem), the streets were empty on Friday night!

Yes, I do drive on Shabbat, along with doing a whole lot of other things that practicing Jews are not “supposed” to do. I’m about as non-practicing as one can be. Jerusalem is a relatively religious city, and so yes, most everything is closed on Friday night (except for bars, some non-kosher restaurants and clubs) and during the day Saturday. But there are still many cars on the roads – except for in the orthodox neighborhoods. Tel Aviv, on the other hand is secular, and so everything is open.

I’m ethnically part-jewish, but not religiously.

I read that as “ethically part-jewish” and got very confused XD
