I believe that Verdant Tea gets their tea straight from the farm. I’m sure that there are other tea companies that do that as well, but, Verdant is who comes to mind immediately. As someone who used to buy and sell tea, I will say that it’s not easy to get small quantities direct from the farm because they do not package it in small quantities. Most farms are not equipped to deal to the small, retail buyer who are looking for less than several kilos of tea.

Tealet is a relatively new company that has a monthly subscription service where they get it directly from the farmer.

More tea companies are “eliminating the middleman”, so you will see more of these pop up.

Yea
I was goin to try and set up a collection of teas straight from a farmer
What I would love to do is find someone who regularly travels to china regularly and buys tea from the farmer

garret sources from the growers and has excellent teas! go to mandala tea on google you should find his tea shop there. excellent service , great products and always generous( you will get a sample or two with each order). an excellent choice in the community.

Also keep in mind that even if a company buys directly from farmers, it may blend the tea leaves from different farmers, which I guess is not what you’re looking for.

Aloha, I am building Tealet right now. We create connections direct from the grower to you. We’re still young, but our subscription service is up and running, we have a good selection of teas for our early October shipment. We also have a marketplace and all tea that you purchase there is delivered in retail packaging (100g) directly from the farm. www.tealet.com FREE SHIPPING

The Tea Haus also buys some of their teas directly from the farmers, especially their Hawaiian teas (which are incredible). I would also highly recommend Verdant Tea, because they profile the farms their teas come from. It’s fascinating stuff.
