Our company, Teajo Teas (www.teajo.com), sources 100% of its teas through growers, including flavored teas. Taking it to another level, 50% of our flavored teas are made with single estate tea from a family owned Assamese farm.

Some of our teas are straight from the farm. They don’t tend to be any cheaper though.

Yes, there is a widespread perception that farm-sourced teas are less expensive because one can eliminate the large blenders, consolidators, etc. in the supply chain. In fact, the opposite is true, because farm-sourced teas are generally a different level of quality, are fresher and are produced at lower volumes. There is no benefit of blending with tea from other farms to reduce costs.
