Electric Kettle Suggestions
So I am currently using my second Oster Electric kettle and it has been great. The only problem is that it has been acting up lately and the last time something like this happened it ended up dead by the end of the week. So looking ahead I was hopping someone out there had a suggestion as to a brand or kettle that has worked well for them.
I end up using my current one 5 or more times a day which obviously is taking a toll on the kettle. I would love to be able to find one that can be heated to specific temperatures and wont break my bank, since I am a poor college student after all. Thanks for the help!
i use (there was a link to the product here but seem like it don’t want to work so just search salton mp-1206 ) its in fact a multi usage kettle but i use it just for water cost around 15 $ at a wal-mart ( in canada at least ) what i like is that its as Adjustable temperature control it does takea little pratice to know what position is what temp but when you know it it useful got it for one week now and so far no problem but hey temperature control for 15 $ ? it’s a deal even if i don’t keep it 25 years
and if it is something that concern you it’s BPA free ( got email directly from the company since i was not finding the info no where )

I SWEAR by my Zojirushi. I can make tea constantly now. It temps at 208/195/175. So I usually start in the AM with 208 or 195 and then change it to 175 so that in the afternoon I can brew whites/greens. Then if I change my mind I can hit the button to reboil. SO EASY!!!
If you watch ebay you can get one at a good price….they’ll last forever though. My first I’ve had for 2 years and I bought it from a tea shop that was closing so you know it had tons of use. I bought a second for my birthday because I wanted black to match the kitchen so now my first one is my travel Zoji.

So tempting to buy one but so hard to justify. Is the 30% only when you use a charge card?
And what would be a good price on eBay?
I got one on ebay for $75/shipped. If you’re patient and can wait. I do think you have to use the Kohls charge to use the 30%. My Zoji has changed my life so it’s worth every penny!
$75 for one of those I could swing. That’s a great deal! How long did you have to wait? Think it would be harder or easier over Christmas. And it’s a legitimate Zoji?
Took me a few months for that. Came in the original box and everything. You just have to be careful. Oh, and check your local craigslist. Mine has one on now for $50!!!

There’s another one on now around $80 but if you read the description there is no power cord….so just be careful.
I’ve been using a $30 kettle from Aroma for about 4 years now; I use it several times a day and it’s still going strong. I bought a second one last year, for use at the office. I love it because 1) It’s metal inside (though there is a tiny bit of plastic for the water meter that shows how full it is) and 2) I can heat just a cup of water at a time; the heating element is in the base so there’s no minimum quantity

I just got a Aroma from a friend and love it. She got it as a gift and never used it! No temp settings. It is discontinued so you might find a good deal on one.

It is $60, but I got mine for about $30, what with Adagio’s Frequent Cups program (their reward system actually accumulates fairly quickly, which is nice). I’ve had it for about six months now, use it probably at least 5 times a day, and it’s still working perfectly. It does 180 and 212 degree water, and it’s probably the cheapest variable temp I’ve seen on the market.
Second the utilitea. I’ve had mine for around 3 years now and it still works perfectly.
Matt; I got the Oster variable temp for &40 and it broke after a month. Even though I had checked reviews from a consumer report group when I logged on to Target’s site to check on return policies (lost my reciept so now I’m out the cash) I saw customer reviews there and just about every one was a complaint that it broke within three months. I picked up a little Sunbeam for $20 And with the help of my wifes 6" thermometer I add cool water until I get what I want. Had I seen Zoltars post I woulda went that route just as easily. I’m now gonna check out these other links, thanks everyone!
I love my kettle. Like really a lot. But it’s definitely not a budget kettle, sorry. =(

Seconded! This was a gift from the S.O. for the holidays. the price is worth it, but I totally understand not wanting to drop the cash. If it were up to me to spend the money I would still be heating water in that old screaming kettle. I might be insane, but that kettle noise really bothered me. I drink significantly more tea now that I don’t have to face it.

I got my Zojirushi from Mandala tea – Garret is a lovely person and I trust him so I bought mine from him. I love it. Use it daily!
I also have the Brevielle One Touch.
I use the Breville when I want to make a pot of tea or at least several cups of the same tea. Whereas the Zo I use for when I am going through many different teas at a time, for sampling, reviews, gongfu etc.
Not that I like taking business from Garret at Mandala BUT here is a Zojirushi 4 liter for a really good price!

I just use rival from Walmart it was $15 No temp Gage but I dont mind Its one that has a Base that you can take the kettle off and place back on it also Dings and Turns off when its Boiling.
