I’ve never had Persimmon Tree Tea (I almost just typed Permission tree, haha). I went to a place called the Persimmon Cafe when I was in San Francisco…they have good breakfast, if you’re ever in the area, haha. Anyway…when my boyfriend had a cold a couple weeks ago, I made him Vanilla Honeybush with lots of honey. He said it was good, which is high praise coming from him (he does not like tea). Probably just because it tasted like honey water, haha.
Hehe, when I saw the title I thought it said “Free Teal?”
HECK YES! FREE COLORS!!! :D
Act now and get Turquoise and AquaMarine for free!
Bwahaha, I thought the same thing. Silly exclamation point. :D
Oh how I wish I was able to post and talk more often on the subject. Sucks to be on a boat and have no Internet. I did want to add my two cents here while I can, that being without tea for 3 days sucked! Seeing this, made me smile though.
You’re on a boat? You don’t work on a cruise ship by chance, do you? I did this a few years ago and it was lots of fun (and the internet was awful!!)
Sucks to be on a boat?! :P I think we’re all kinda jealous! However, the Steepster withdrawal probably hurts :D
Wow Sil how exciting! I’m also curious as to if you’re working on a ship and/or what you’re doing? I would love to do lighting/sound design on a cruise ship one day
Great now I have that “Im on a boat” song going though my head!!
hahaha totally, I’m with you Azz x_x
I went to youtube it I had no idea there were so many versions!!
Ah, no worries you will be able to post and drink tea all you want when you get back to dry land :)
Daisy – totally missed seeing this. I was on a Disney cruise! Just a vacation so no working ;)
Oh good! A nice relaxing trip :D I would love to hear all about it when you come back, I’ve always wondered what a Disney Cruise is like :) Not yet though, keep relaxing :D
Daisy…..well I’ve now been on seven lol and we have no kids….and I’m not a Disney fanatic…so that should speak volumes :) I’m also not big into the casinos and crazy omg excitement! I like low key relaxing vacations :)
I love that you named the company after a tree and would love to see a tree branding on your tins :)
We have over 100 persimmon treas on our property. About 35 produce fruit – persimmon treas are male and female so not all produce and some just may not be old enough. Only about 4 tress produce fruit we use for pudding and cookies. This year with the drought we thought there wouldn’t be any but we got rain at just the right time and the trees are loaded with huge sweet fruit.
That’s amazing! I love persimmons. Mostly I use them to make persimmon cookies. Yummiest cookie ever.
I don’t know that I have ever HAD a persimmon.
My wife grew up 100 miles north of here and had never heard of them. She hates them in pudding. She uses them in a spice cake. Her dad took a bucket of them home withhim years ago and made persimmon wine. Worse stuff you ever tried :)
I have two fruit producing persimmon trees here and they’re amazing. They have this thick sweet cinnamon taste that vanishes if one cooks them or refrigerates them. I hadn’t thought of using the overripe one though. Have you made vinegar with them?
Haven’t heard of any one using them for vinegar – of course that is what my father-in-law’s wine tasted like, so maybe…
I haven’t tried any of your teas yet, Persimmon Tree, but I would love to eventually!
I can contribute one of my favorite poems (okay, I have dozens of favorites I keep going back to, but this is one of them) though, called Persimmons by Li-Young Lee: http://www.poetryfoundation.org/poem/171753
Here’s an excerpt:
My mother said every persimmon has a sun
inside, something golden, glowing,
warm as my face.
…
Finally understanding
he was going blind,
my father sat up all one night
waiting for a song, a ghost.
I gave him the persimmons,
swelled, heavy as sadness,
and sweet as love.
That is so sad and so wonderful. By the way, today is National Poetry Day (U.S.).
ive never had tea from the persimmon tree…
i did try a new tea today that i wasnt sure i would like and it turns out that i loved it. like my top 10 kinda love.
I bought a new thermos today, to bring tea with me on long walks with the dogs. Its great because i can just throw it in my backpack and forget about it, and it’s suppose to stay warm for 8 hours!
anyway
Oh what kind of tea and mug??
umm, organic hot lips from davids tea, and i was going to buy the timolino, but couldn’t justify $30, so I went to Canadian tire and picked up a 500 ml thermos. doesn’t come with an infuser, but I’ll manage without :) I usually just use a travel mug I have that looks like a camera lens, but I wanted something I could throw in my backpack on hikes and such, so I think it will do the trick.
Oh I remember that camera lens mug! At least someone had posted one a while back.
yup, its a sweet mug. I get a lot of comments on it when i bring it to work.
I have tried a few of your teas, and the ones that I’ve tried I’ve enjoyed. And I’d like to try more. :)
LiberTEAS, how about you list the teas that you enjoyed and maybe why? Ok, feeling to lazy to go and look at your reviews….lol. But I thought everyone would like to know.
and only a few of us old timers know that before you can eat a persimmon tree the fruit must have been frosted over to make the fruit sweet. before the frost it is bitter but afterwards it changes to a sweet fruit. i would love to try your teas. i am a newbie only on here since july though.
