Anyone Into High-Quality Coffee?

I know coffee gets a bad rap from a lot of members of the tea community, but I feel like there’s more to the world of coffee than I realize. It’s just like how someone who drinks bagged black tea will think there isn’t anything special about tea, when really they just haven’t been exposed to what REAL tea is.

I know there’s a lot of people that are into gourmet coffees and I was getting curious and wondering if anyone knows any good sources.

I usually drink coffee in the mornings. Counter Culture Coffee Co. is probably my favorite, I’m yet to try one of their blends I didn’t like. :)
For darker roast coffees I like Kana

I like coffee, but I cannot enjoy it without cream and sugar, unfortunately. Coffee is just too bitter for me, and I’ve had lots of different kinds, including the fancy stuff.

I do like coffee flavoring :)

I used to drink coffee every day, that’s how I started my day. This was just before I got REALLY in to tea … still enjoyed tea but, was mostly just drinking loose black teas and hadn’t really explored many green teas or other tea types. It was quite a few years ago.

Then, I came to realize that the coffee that I enjoyed every morning was the same thing that was making me feel sick to my stomach every day. I stopped drinking the coffee, and the nausea stopped along with it. I still needed something to get me going in the mornings, so I turned to the teas… and started to realize just how amazing tea is … thus started my journey.

So, it could be said that without coffee, I might never have started my journey with tea. I still like the flavor of coffee, but I can’t drink coffee… but I like some of the coffee flavored teas and some of the tisanes with chicory that sort of taste like coffee.

But… despite all that… coffee is still evil. LOL!

My partner and I have a cup of Philz coffee (San Francisco business) every day. It’s good stuff!

I love turkish coffee prepared traditionally as possible here at home. I have a ton of it filling my freezer and have not touched it in over 7 months. I miss it sometimes but just make myself a kick butt tea instead. :)
I don’t need to be any more jittery than I already am!

I drink one cup of coffee per day (in the morning) and I’m very particular about my coffee. More so that with tea.

The only other brand which I have liked is https://www.orensdailyroast.com/

Preferences: light or medium roast (really dislike French roast), no milk, no flavorings of any sort. Just a tiny bit of agave.

I like the occasional coffee flavored thing, but it’s way to bitter for me to drink by itself. I like affogato though <3

I have a friend who works for Batdorf & Bronson roasters and their coffee is pretty amazing. Their coffee is the only one I can drink without adding something to it.

Fun thing I learned from him: there is a “tea” made from the berries called cascara. I need to get some at some point because it sounds tasty and intriguing: https://www.bluestatecoffee.com/products-page/coffee/cascara-coffee-cherry-tea/

Wow, that sounds pretty cool. I want to try both this coffee and tea! I’m not a coffee connoisseur and always drink it (on the rare occasions I drink it—I used to have it a lot more but can no longer tolerate caffeine) with loads of sugar. I’ve read coffee snobs (I say that with love) say that if coffee needs sugar and/or cream to be palatable, something’s wrong (the quality of the bean or the roast or the preparation), but man, I find it so hard to imagine a coffee that’s not at all bitter on its own. That’d be something to try, I think. =)

Definitely! And depending on where they are grown, they have different flavors. I think it just takes a single origin coffee instead, which I have to say I had never done until I went to a coffee and cupcake pairing he did. It was mindblowing to realize that there were flavors in coffee that could bring out flavors in cake!

I am actually a black coffee fan, so I guess I am one of those coffee snobs! If it doesn’t taste good without cream and sugar, I won’t drink it (coughstarbuckscough).

Cascara is tasty :) interestingly, different countries cascara can be quite different, and different farms produce very different flavours, but several I’ve tried have had a quite strong orange flavour of some sort.

Makes sense considering the difference in taste of single origin coffees from different countries and regions! That’s really interesting that they’ve had orange flavors, being berries I kind of expected something sweet and like a mix of cherry and probably berries I can’t identify so that’s really cool to hear!
