Maybe it’s too long but I like this quote:
“No pleasure is simpler, no luxury cheaper, no consciousness-altering substance more benign.” James Norwood Pratt

I like that one. PLUS it was said by JNP can’t get much more tea related!

I like this one, but I know far too many people who would think its referring to a certain leaf of lesser legal standing :P

Tea tempers the spirit and harmonizes the mind.

One sip of this will bathe the drooping spirits in a light, beyond the bliss of dreams.

A home without tea is merely a house.

Come let us have some tea and continue to talk about happy things

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions, now the hard part to decide which quote to go with.

You could always go with ‘Tea Is Bliss’ If I ever get a tea related tattoo that is probably what I would do.

I want a tea tattoo on the back of my neck – just the chinese symbol for Cha. I love the words it stands for – or the meaning of each part of the symbol.
I hope you find your perfect saying! This would be impossible for me to decide!

I’m getting the actual plant. Two leaves and the bud. Drawing it myself. I’ll post it when I get it.

Most of the quotes and passages I like are either too long, or more about things tangentially related to tea. But:

“Know that chanoyu
Is simply this:
Boil water,
Prepare tea,
And drink-that is all.” from the Metsugo volume of Namporoku.

“The First glass is as bitter as life,
the second glass is as strong as love,
the third glass is as gentle as death.” Algerian proverb on tea.

Untranslated:

“Le premier verre est aussi doux que la vie,
le deuxième est aussi fort que l’amour,
le troisième est aussi amer que la mort.”

“It has not the arrogance of wine, the self-conciousness of coffee, nor the simpering innocence of cocoa.” Okakura Kakuzō, The Book of Tea. (my personal favourite)
