violet tea

Can someone recommend a violet flavored black tea (or green tea, actually) that they have tried and enjoyed? I have tried the Kusmi Violet, but it wasn’t as strong as I typically like, and the violet flavor not as pronounced (although it is still a tasty tea, just not exactly what I’m looking for). Also, I’m not really into violet/floral blends, just violet. Thank you!

I have this one, though I guess it might be practically impossible to find http://steepster.com/teas/quai-sud/17302-the-a-la-violette it´s from a food company but which seems to specialize in gimmicky packaging for home decor stuff. Just violet, very strong, and IMO not very good.

Mariage Freres does violet tea, not in tins but by weight and I guess only directly from them http://www.mariagefreres.com/boutique/UK/ft+violette+T872.html
I never had it, though I am eyeing another of their blends which has violet, though in my experience Mariage Freres is usually always more intense than Kusmi.

Ahh. well I was going to suggest a Violet Rose Tea, but 1.) I do not know the company. (My local tea shop is not inclined to say where she got the tea.) 2.) It has roses in it, well actually the roses pretty much take over the tea. 3.) It has a black tea base, not green tea.

Other than that it is a lovely tea. Hopefully you find what your looking for, soon.

Oh, my I am so envious! If in Paris, then I am sure the main MF shop will have it in stock (and it´s not even expensive, 100 grams per 6 euros). Have fun out there, I have stalking their website, I am seriously envious (but in a good way).

Dammann Freres also does loose violet tea I think, like Dinosara mentions below, I have seen a steepster friend review it a couple weeks ago http://steepster.com/teas/dammann-freres/30620-violette.

I think that Dammann Frères might have a violet tea too… it’s not on their website, but I have seen it listed on another website so it’s possible they just don’t sell it online. And if you’re in Paris, it won’t be hard to find out! :)

try violette or Iskandar from MF.
Violette from DF is nice too, always on stock at the Dammann shop place des Vosges.
Green tea Macaron Violette DF is nice as well but you have the macaron ’s taste in addition of Violet :)

Thank you so much for all your replies— I wound up purchasing the plain Violette from DF. I had this in a teashop in Seattle and fell instantly in love but could never seem to find it anywhere else and have been resorting to the Kusmi violet which isn’t anything special, in all honesty. The DF violette is truly an incredible experience for those who enjoy Violette. It has a sweet, candy, flowery smell but when you sip it, its just strong, not sweet at all. It’s also great iced.

here is a link to purple tea from Kenya. Text says the tea holds a pigment similar to cranberries, so hence the purple colour. production process is similar to oolong. Taste is earthy and rustic. (not sweet though). purple tea is rare and expensive (almost 19 euros for 50 gr.) hope this helps in your search.
