Chai Tea?

A tea I just ordered got here tonight and it came with a free sample of chai. I have never had chai before nor do I know how to prepare it. Could someone fill me in on how to prepare chai tea?

The best way for me, as someone who prefers to eat spicy and not drink spicy, is to heat up in a saucepan on the stove a mixture of 1/2 water, 1/2 milk…so for an 8 oz cup of tea, 4 oz water, 4 oz milk. When it starts to simmer, add in the tea, and keep it simmering for 4-5 minutes. Don’t let it start to boil, and stir it as needed. Then just strain and drink.

For a chai mix is usually brew it like a black tea but using half water half milk. For a spicier, more authentic chai, you can boil the spices in water on the stove for a few minutes, then reduce heat and add the milk and tea for a few minutes :)

I brew it without the milk. Brewing it stovetop method DOES produce a really tasty brew, but, its too messy for my liking. If I want a latte, I brew it strong (brewing it strong does not mean steeping it for a longer period of time, it means adding more leaf) in the same way I’d brew any other tea, using water to infuse it. Then I add warmed milk to the finished tea and froth it with my frothing tool.
