I will run to the cookie dough first forsure! Banana nut bread was one of my favorites from the fall collection so I will definitely get the banana dream pie! I dont really like candy canes too much so probably not Santa secret. Oh come on Thursday! Lol you?

Cedes did you see they just posted what is probably the tea of the month?

Cedes said 2012-10-29 10:56:41 -0400

I think it’s the Vanilla Orchid that Davids posted after the five. I am sooo excited for cookie dough and the banana one actually sounds good too. So does cocomint actually, I’m excited to have a new mint tea.

Yeah that must have been the hidden one in the picture. Sneaky! That would make sense :) I can wait for cookiedough! I’m allergic to gluten so I cant really eat yummy cookies so yay for flavored tea! Yeah the banana one sounds good too, I havnt really liked any of the chocolate teas ive tried yet except read my lips. Hopefully this one will be better :)

Sweet Canadian said 2012-10-29 11:17:26 -0400

That’s so crazy, my husband is a celiac! I thought maybe the tea would have gluten in it so I wasn’t getting his hopes up, but if it is good I’m sure he will be happy. He tends to stick to Brazillionaire and Cream of Earl grey, but I’m sure he would love a cookie tea. Though he hasn’t gravitated towards Birthday cake so who knows.

Have you had chocolate rocket? It is my fav chocolate tea they have.

Cedes said 2012-10-29 11:23:20 -0400

Yeah ive tried it, it was okay. I dont no maybe cause im not much of a chocolate person. I love white chocolate but not as much dark chocolate so that’s probably why im not such a fan of them. But I love! red velvet cake which has chocolate peices in it so i donno.

Small
Sweet Canadian said 2012-10-29 11:32:13 -0400

I would say Red Velvet Cake is a chocolate tea (to me it is the chocolate version of Birthday Cake) so you do like one! Just not the dark chocolate teas. Did I mention I love birthday cake?

Small
Sweet Canadian said 2012-10-29 11:35:37 -0400

I also recognize that they have a chocolate cake tea, but I don’t like it. I like red velvet.

Oh yeah haha I was thinking the week after, since the Holiday collection comes out on the 7th. I am most excited about the advent calendar, I had one last year just by chance and it introduced me to DavidsTea amazingness.

I am not too excited for Chocolate Chili chai, I think I’ve had it before but I don’t remember, and I am not a fan of super spicy things. I will probably go for Cocomint Cream first since I bet that will make an amazing latte, and then cookie dough. I will probably get a tin of Santa’s Secret just so I have a daily tea to latte up over the next 2 months. I stocked up on some pumpkin chai today because I drink a latte every morning on my way to uni :)

Cedes said 2012-10-26 22:53:49 -0400

Yeah Im really turned off of chai teas, I used to love them but I ordered pumpkin chia from the website a couple months ago and i dont know if i got a bad batch but it smells and tastes moldy so im kinda not into chai’s for the moment. Cocomint would probly be good, I wonder if it will taste like read my lips, cause it chocolate and mint hum.

I somewhat heard of this advent calendar in my searches recently ill have to have a look when it comes out!

If you want an advent calendar you better get on it, they apparently sold out in 2 days last year. I lucked into one because I was just looking at Davids at that time. Everyday you get a small tin of a different tea, it is AMAZING! Best advent calendar ever.

Cedes said 2012-10-26 23:20:46 -0400

Oh wow that’s fast! I’ll keep a look out then :)

Cavocorax said 2012-10-31 04:59:03 -0400

I hadn’t heard of them before. Is it online only? And, roughly, how much was the calendar? I think I’d like to scoop one!

I’m sad that Chocolate Chili Chai is coming back again, as that one makes me nauseous just to smell it, but at the same time it’s good cuz there are less tempting teas. If the “coco” part of cocomint is coconut, I"m also pretty bummed. It’s been a while (a year or more?) since Davids has come out with a seasonal collection that impressed me. I guess I’ll have to wait and smell.. : )

Small
Sweet Canadian said 2012-10-27 10:20:28 -0400

What haven’t you liked about the last few seasonal collections Uniquity? I only started focusing on the seasonal teas this summer, and I’ve liked both collections since then (summer/fall). I do wish that all of the teas were standout for me though, I’d say in the summer collection I liked them all but there wasn’t one that I ended up getting a tin of, and in the fall collection I love pumpkin chai, the rest were just nice to try.

Cedes said 2012-10-27 10:25:28 -0400

oh i didnt even think coconut coco as in like hot chocolate coco just came to mind, probably cause its getting cold and that what i think of when i hear coco. Hum yeah coconut not really to winter expired.

Uniquity said 2012-10-27 11:15:06 -0400

@Sweet Canadian – I’ve been a big DT fan for 2 to 3 years now, but that unfortunately means that I’ve seen a lot of the same old things, heh. A lot of the fan favourites (Chocolate Chili Chai, Pumpkin Chai, anything with coconut) keep showing up but they don’t appeal to me at all. The new tendency to include Stevia leaf (in the cake teas, at least) is really not working for me either. I’ve also had about half a dozen new teas in the past year that tasted and smelled more like bubblegum than any other flavour. I keep trying the new ones though, and some of them really are special, but it’s starting to seem too safe. Or something.
@Cedes – If it;s coco as in cocoa, I’m there. That’s what I’m hoping for – we shall see! : )

Small
Kittenna said 2012-10-27 11:20:10 -0400

My suspicion is that coco is definitely coconut. Why would they put out yet another chocolate mint tea? I’d be shocked if that was the case! (I, however, love coconut, and so am definitely hoping that is the case! :D)

I bet like Indian Summer it will be around $10 for 50g. But who knows?

Small
Cedes said 2012-10-29 11:24:16 -0400

I hope cookie dough wont be ridiculously prices cause its a white tea :( That wold be a total downer!

Small
Babble said 2012-10-29 11:27:53 -0400

The conspiracy theorist in me says they purposely made it white tea because they know us cookie dough addicts would have it anyway. ;)

awww there’s dairy :\

Small
Sweet Canadian said 2012-10-30 21:38:25 -0400

I feel like it either had to have dairy, stevia, or wheat in it for them to emulate that flavour. It’s too bad.

The “fireworks” box is likely the Resolution collection for after Christmas. The past two years it has not included anything new.

The Advent calendar will likely have all five winter collection, the three Holiday collection and November and December tea of the month.

Regarding the three gift tins, as Chocolate Chili Chai is expected in the Winter Collection and Sleigh Ride is a permanent tea it seems like a safe guess that these are not tins of the Holiday collection.

Santa’s Secret is listed on the website and as they have a gift tin that seems very likely for the Holiday collection. Elf Help is still listed as an “online exclusive” and has been in the Holiday collection in stores the past two years so it would make sense for it to return. Two years ago the winter collection included a herbal chai tea called Winterberry Wine which was discountinued. Last yeah the collection included the popular Oh Christmas Treat a puerh tea which was renamed to Chocolate Orange and made permanent.

@Sweet Canadian as for the lack of interest in the seasonal collections, Toasted Walnut, Glitter and Gold, Goji Pop, Pink Flamingo, Banana Nut Bread, Swampwater, Luscious Watermelon, Pumpkin Chai, Fantasy Island and many more started as seasonal teas and have either become permanent or are reoccuring seasonal teas. With the exception of Alpine Punch and Chocolate Orange no tea planned as a limited time has been popular enough to become permanent. With around 100 new teas launched this year that is not a high success record, especially considering Pink Flamingo, Fantasy Island and Goji Pop were all part of the same five tea spring collection in 2011. Also in that collection was the sadly missed Cocomama Lime and Dreamscile.

Sweet Canadian said 2012-10-28 12:24:10 -0400

I see what you mean Cory, I just enjoy trying all the new teas they release each season, but you are right particularly with the fall collection, I didn’t love Persian Apple or Indian Summer.

With regards to the Advent Calendar, I don’t know if all those teas will be included. I had one last year and I know that the winter collection was not a part of it, for instance I had never tried Alpine Punch before recently. It was a mix of a bunch of their most popular ones with the holiday collection included. We shall have to wait and see :)

Does anyone know how much the advent calendars usually cost?

Small
Uniquity said 2012-10-28 14:58:06 -0400

I think the Advent calendars are $25? I’ve never picked one up because I own all the ones I am interested in, but they are really neat. The tins would be particularly handy too!

Teavangelical said 2012-10-28 23:08:54 -0400

Cory Boehm said 2012-10-28 15:05:32 -0400

There is no way to predict the cost of the Advent calendar. It has been offered two years and changed significantly between them. The first year had 25 teas with smaller tins, last year had 24 teas with bigger tins. The costs were different too although I cannot remember them.

Small
Teavangelical said 2012-10-29 22:43:46 -0400

it’s 29.50.

Small
Sweet Canadian said 2012-10-28 17:32:01 -0400

Last year it was $29 dollars, and Cory is right it had 24 teas. If you look at the picture, it looks like the same set up as last years. In fact I think it looks the same but with different graphics and as Davids said when I inquired, some will be the same, some teas will be different.
