these sound very good. I will also be out on the look out for the advent calendars. Does anyone know when they are released?

And?!

Small
Teavangelical said 2012-10-29 23:31:28 -0400

om nom nom nom. I really liked them both. The cookie dough one really does taste like cookie dough. it’s delicious. and cocomint is super lovely and creamy. i understand why it’s a winter tea now. it reminds me of a scent The Body Shop had a few years (ok a decade) ago called Snow.

@Teavangelical do you know when we’ll get info on the holiday collection teas? I know Santa’s Secret is coming back, and its been hinted Elf help is too, but I’m assuming their is a 3rd?

Small
momo said 2012-10-30 21:52:50 -0400

Oh ok thanks, Momo I was refering to the holiday teas coming out on the 7th not the winter ones. I am sooo excited :) I just want to know what else is coming out with Santa’s Secret.

Small
momo said 2012-10-31 11:14:58 -0400

wait, there are TWO different collections? ahhh STOP DAVIDSTEA STOP

Small
Teavangelical said 2012-11-01 02:56:24 -0400

I think it’s Santa’s Secret, Sleigh Ride and Chocolate Chili chai. Those are the three in the collectors tin’s (like ones that Banana Nut Bread, Pumpkin Chai and Red Velvet were in for fall)

Small
Sweet Canadian said 2012-11-01 09:46:05 -0400

Which ones are in the little ornaments? I’m assuming those will also come out next Wednesday.

Cedes said 2012-10-31 22:07:13 -0400

just got home from setting up the store for the first part of the holiday launch. I am in love with like four of the new perfect mugs.

Small
JoyofSteeping said 2012-11-01 08:32:05 -0400

I am in the market for a new mug!

Small
Sweet Canadian said 2012-11-01 10:09:31 -0400

I want to see the mugs, I’m getting super annoyed with the website haha! I am going to my store at 12:30 but I want a preview of the magic and they are taking their sweet time putting it online.

Small
JoyofSteeping said 2012-11-01 08:31:53 -0400

checked first thing and they weren’t up yet, hopefully soon.

When the new winter stuff is released on the website, does anyone have any insight on whether I should get the Winter Collection or the Advent Calendar? I’d like to try both, but on my poor college student budget I should probably limit myself to one. I wish the Winter Collection teas came with the calendar! I’m dying to try Vanilla Orchid and Cookie Dough, but I haven’t had too much experience with David’s Teas so the Advent Calendar might be a good idea for that reason.

Jaz said 2012-11-01 09:41:16 -0400

Advent calendar if you havent tried very many of their teas, it give a good mix…….you could always go in an buy 10g of the winter collection, I always find that to be a fairly inexpensive way to at least get to try their new teas.

Small
Sweet Canadian said 2012-11-01 09:44:15 -0400

I’d also recommend the advent calendar, chances are some of the winter teas will be in there, and you will get to try so many other ones. Plus they come in super cute little tins! And like Jaz said you can get any other ones you want to try in 10g bags. The Winter collection will be in stores until March, but the advent calendar will sell our quickly and is only there for Christmas. SO if you don’t have the money now, you can try some of them closer to the spring as they will still be around :)

liztea said 2012-11-01 09:57:08 -0400

Sadly I don’t have a store near me, and the smallest amounts the teas come in on the website are 50g. But I think I’ll be picking up the Advent Calendar when it comes out. Thanks for the advice. Then I can ask for the Winter Collection for Christmas!

Shoot and just now the Winter Collection came up online and all I want to do is buy it. :’)

Small
Sweet Canadian said 2012-11-01 10:08:29 -0400

The advent calendar was the most amazing thing I have ever had in the Christmas season. The wait will be worth it liztea, I promise :) I don’t think I can express how wonderful it was when I discovered it last year.

Small
momo said 2012-11-01 10:49:12 -0400

Awesome hint: in the box at checkout that I think is for special instructions or gift orders, you can ask for teas you specifically want samples of, and they are super awesome about fulfilling those requests, so if you get the Advent Calendar instead, ask for Vanilla Orchid and Cookie Dough to be 2 of your samples!

I never got their advent calendar last year. This will be my first time getting it, and I can’t wait for the experience. When do they usually start to become available for purchase?

Small
Jaz said 2012-11-01 09:42:38 -0400

Im pretty sure its going to be coming out around Nov. 7th this year.

Small
The Cup of Life - Lu Ann said 2012-11-01 11:10:17 -0400

Thanks :) That’s so soon. I’ll be on the look out!

Small
Sweet Canadian said 2012-11-01 09:42:13 -0400

They have said the advent calendar will be available November 7th :)

Small
JoyofSteeping said 2012-11-01 10:31:33 -0400

Do you know if it will be available on line or only in store?

Small
Dustin said 2012-11-01 11:09:38 -0400

It had better be available online! There are no stores near me, I have never tried their tea before and after all this hype I’m bouncing around in anticipation like a kid on xmas! I love advent calenders and am thrilled at the idea of a more grown up themed one!

Small
The Cup of Life - Lu Ann said 2012-11-01 11:11:11 -0400

Last year I’m pretty sure I saw it available online. So it makes sense it would be this year.

Small
Sweet Canadian said 2012-11-01 11:13:36 -0400

I don’t see why it wouldn’t be online. That’s how I got mine last year, since I’ve only recently relocated within the area of a store :)

Small
Babble said 2012-11-01 11:09:07 -0400

You all got me jazzed about the advent calendar now, too. Is there any way I can find information on last year’s calendar?

And how quickly does it sell out? A few hours? A few days?

Small
Dustin said 2012-11-01 11:10:08 -0400

Someone posted earlier that it sold out in two days last year.

Small
Sweet Canadian said 2012-11-01 11:16:46 -0400

You’re in luck Rachel, Erin’s tea did day by day reviews of the advent calendar last year :) You can see them starting here: http://www.erinstea.com/the-24-days-of-tea-december-1st/

Small
Babble said 2012-11-01 11:32:45 -0400

Thanks! I like how she shows what it looks like too.

Small
Kittenna said 2012-11-01 11:55:42 -0400

I’m not sure that it’s entirely true that it sold out in two days last year; I know my roomie and I heard about it one day and were interested, ended up at DavidsTea at least a day or so later and picked one up (not knowing of the hype about them), and I’m fairly sure that she ordered one for her mom another day or so later (though they were sold out shortly thereafter). I feel like it was more like a week, not two days.

That said, don’t hesitate to buy one if you want one, as I’m willing to bet they’ll be significantly more popular this year!

Small
Babble said 2012-11-01 11:57:42 -0400

Did the calendar contain any teas you couldn’t get elsewhere? What did you end up doing with the little tins?

Small
Sweet Canadian said 2012-11-01 12:09:08 -0400

It was a mix of a bunch of different teas. All ones available in store I think, but it was a good blend of everything. And I used the tins for bringing tea to work/school/wherever, and I also sometimes bring them into store to get small samples of teas.

Small
Kittenna said 2012-11-01 12:11:28 -0400

Yeah, the calendar had teas that were available in-store. I think it includes the Dec TOTM, so that wouldn’t be available yet otherwise. I don’t know if it will include online exclusives this year.

Yeah, the tins work for taking samples places without them getting crushed! Or for swapping matcha to people. It’s a great idea to take them into the store for samples :D

Small
Erin said 2012-11-01 23:25:42 -0400

I ordered the calendar online as they were sold out in stores super quick… I don’t think they knew just how popular they were going to be, this year, i’m sure they’ll make more—however demand has also increased :)
