What kind of tea should I drink during Hurricane Sandy in New York ?

NONE………… At this point I’m drinking Jack Daniels and Coke… May be some Passionflower tea.

LOL!!!
I would drink Lapsang Souchong in a storm like that – I think. May be good with JD as well.

Honestly, this weather has me craving hot miso soup more than tea. But it might also be my monthly cycle of cravings at work. Maybe some chai spiced mulled mead would be nice too. I have a bottle of mead around here somewhere…

Or should I save it to disinfect water for consumption should things get really bad? Like back in the good old days when the only safe things to drink were beer, cider, and watered wine?

Something strong and bracing would be my suggestion?
Assam/blend maybe?

If I was in the path of a rise in water, I’d be putting my tea in waterproof containers!!! Seal up those valuable assets! Another thing I’d have besides a flashlight and water is a thermos of hot tea (my best black because even cold it tastes good), a small habachi or camp stove and fuel for when the storm is over and the power is still out so that I could boil water! Must have tea!

Haha, I didn’t put my tea in waterproof containers since I live on the third floor of an apartment complex, but I did make two thermos’ of tea, a couple pitchers of iced tea, and a bunch of pitchers of filtered water in case the power goes out!

Haha I think stick with the Jack and Coke for now to calm your nerves a bit! Then switch to tea once you’re a little more “relaxed”

On another note you could add a bit of Jack to your tea if you’re feeling brave!!

Cookies. I am stuck in the house with tea and scotch but no cookiemakings. Things are getting desperate. I just snipped at the boyfriend and then out of desperation ate oatmeal mixed with butter and cocoa. :-) Other than that it’s just a crazy windstorm here, checking the seals on the windows. I am inland a good bit. Apparently in the city it is much worse.

I’m drinking some iced Pina Colada from Element Tea. It’s like a vacation on a tropical beach if, you know, there was a hurricane there XD

My lights here are flickering intermittently. It may only be a matter of time now. I think my husband’s goal is to play as much FIFA 12 as he can before the power goes out.

The strong winds are truly making me nervous. I think I can see my windows moving…

I think I’ll brew some Forever Nuts. It’s a comforting tea that my husband also enjoys.

Fill your thermos with tea!

I’ve filled the thermos with hot water to brew with later. The thermos makes my tea taste funny. Funny how, even at a time like this, I’m thinking ahead so that I can have hot tea later. Thanks for the advice!

I did the same thing Mercury – My thermos too makes my tea taste funny, I thought it was all in my head.

Sometimes it’s the plastic or the stopper or seal rubber gasket. A glass type with stainless usually has no bad taste.
But I know what you’re talking about. Blech!

I’d be just as likely to eat all the halloween candy!
