Help Too Many Teas

Hi Everyone, I am new to steepster and loose leaf teas. I am amazed at how many there are out there. Everyone I see I want to buy. In comes that problem. I could spend a small fortune buying all of the teas and tins. Just wondering how many teas do you all have at one time? Do you wait until you run out of one to buy another or do some of you collect them?

Thanks a bunch!

I do a mix of both. I have 100 or so teas in my cupboard but not all of them are in large sizes. Samples go a long way to figuring out what I like and what i don’t. Swaps are great too!

I tend to order in bunches when there are sales, or I can stock up on a few samples. I’m in the midst of trying to sipdown some of my cupboard though too in order to land on a smaller cupboard size with more of my favourites.

Not sure if that helps.

We’re probably not the best people to ask about this. We are all a little ummm nutty when it comes to tea. LOL

I have spent a small fortune on tea (and I know I’m not the only one on here). I have a huge variety of teas, some for mornings and herbals for evenings. I have a few of my favs in larger quantities, but most of my teas are in at least 1oz size, incase I love them and only have a sample.

Yep, this pretty much sums it up.

Tea I’ve purchased… about 100 different kinds in bags and tins… Samples probably another… 25 more…

We’re definitely not “normal” when it comes to tea!

You all make me feel so much better :). I thought I was the only one going through this.

You definitely should try ordering sample packs first. This is way more productive than ordering 100gr of any tea at random. After you’ve finished a round of samples you’ll be sure to have something you’d want to keep around in big quantities… other than more samples. (I swear – one can never have too much samples around)

As for “Do you wait until you run out of one” – it’s just impossible >_< I can’t run out of tea, not for the next year and that’s if I don’t buy more. If I do… lets not think about that.

Currently I have ~40 varieties ~5 of which I will always refill when they run out.

There comes a time in the life of every Steepster where we start to think, “Maybe I DO have a problem. Maybe I am TOO obsessed with tea.”

But then we read this thread and we all feel sooo much better (and in good company): http://steepster.com/discuss/2796-you-know-your-addicted-to-tea-when-dot-dot-dot

This is too funny!!!

There is such a thing as too much tea, but it takes a while for it to happen. If you have more tea than you can hope to drink before it goes stale, it’s probably too much. I am in that group, but that still doesn’t stop me. “But this variety will never taste exactly like this ever agian, I must try it!”

Nah just a couple of months for me from “10 that I like” to “50 that I can barely handle in a reasonable time” :) Steepster does this to people :)

Before Steepster I was a normal tea drinker, with a manageable amount of tea. Now I am a tea hoarder who couldn’t hope to finish all their tea EVER, because I know the buying won’t stop.

Steepster is a blessing and a curse. It introduces us to so many awesome teas, but then we end up with so many we will never be able to finish…
