Help with first Pu'erh

Hi. I walked into a Cantonese supermarket looking for tea. I found a Pu’erh tea and have NO IDEA where it is from or if it is mediocre quality or terrible because everything is in written in Japanese or Chinese. It came in a large purple, semi-cylindrical box. There’s a red tassel at the top. The only English on the box says:

manufactured by jiangmen Xinhui Parksun Foods Co.
Address: Donggua Hill, Beitou Village, Quibao, Xinhui District, Jiangmen City, Guangdong
It is distributed through Domega International Co.

Anyway, I’m drinking it. It tastes like dry twigs and old leather. It’s thin and watery. Does that sound about right for a supermarket Pu-erh? Anyone ever seen this box before?

Thanks.

supermarket pu-erh i have not tried but i am a big fan of menghai dayi, haiwan tea factory and cnnp. i find that raw sheng is almost too grassy for me but shu pu-erh aged and dark is a choice of mine.

That’s not necessarily a bad thing! Leather is a flavor in some puerh :)
