Post your homemade tea blends!
I noticed there wasn’t anywhere on this website to post your home made tea blends that you’re proud of, so I thought it would be neat to start a thread where you guys can post your home made blends that you’d like to share :D
My favorite that I make is a blend of Gyokuro (1 tsp), and Moroccan Mint (1 tsp) with 3 jasmine pearls, then put it all in one strainer for a 16oz pot. It’s really unique. The reason I added the Jasmine was because the Gyokuro has a really fishy smell (the mint wasn’t even strong enough to overpower it). The flavor is a minty, vegetal green tea with the smallest hint of jasmine and it tastes great with cinnamon if you’re in the mood for it. Because of the different flavor profiles or jasmine, mint, and gyrokuro, each steeping tastes different which is neat. And the best part is that it lasts for 6 pots which is a great money saver hehe
Wow! That sounds really good and I think I actually have all the fixings for that one! I’m working on a tea for a Whovian party in December. I’m thinking of making up a Jammy Dodger tea with a cream, raspberry, and ceylon tea flavor…will let you know how it turns out!
I love blending yerba mate with blueberry rooibos. It’s odd but absolutely delicious!
That actually sounds great! Think we may try it.
I’ve been trying a bunch of blends with my Adagio Mei Hua (good tea, but WAY too vegetal on its own imo), and today I made a really nice green chai with it!
1.5 tsp of tea
2 slices of fresh ginger
3 cardamom pods
1 Black peppercorn
1 inch cinamon stick
2 cm dried chili pepper
And a squirt of lime juice
That’s exactly why I started concocting a blend for my Gyokuro! It’s a fantastic tea but it the smell is extremely vegetal, and the taste is pretty vegetal alone too. It needed a kick
This is more of a tisane than a tea, but I really like to do fresh, homemade herbals. I made one yesterday with:
4 sage leaves
1 sprig of rosemary
2 slices of ginger
zest from half a lemon
squirt of honey
Heat to a boil with water, then turn off the heat, cover, steep for 10 minutes. Voila, herbal tea! This particular blend is really savory because of the rosemary/sage, it’s very soothing and relaxing.
