Teavana Vote (What's the Point?)

Teavana sent out an e-mail a few days ago encouraging you to vote for your favorite tea. It pitted five “old favorite” teas against five “newcomers”. You voted by applying a “facebook like”.

What surprised me, though, was that there was absolutely NO incentive to vote that I could see. There were no prizes to giveaway. You didn’t get a coupon for voting. Nothing particularly happened to the tea that would win. This seemed pointless, other than the very obvious tie to election season. You get to promote Teavana for free with absolutely no incentive.

Did this strike anyone as odd, or am I just that jaded by so many tea promotions? Also, let’s be serious, it’s Teavana, not “Joe’s Little Start-up Tea Company”. They can afford to throw in a prize or two (or twelve).

I agree! I got this email as well and immediately thought “OH Cool, you can win something!” ….wrong! Just a very, poor planned marketing scheme to get more FB likes. I haven’t been a big fan of them that much since they took over Teaopia (or other way around?)

LOL. I have to agree with you on that, some incentive, even if kind of cheesy would of helped it go over better. I got the email and glanced briefly at it, but couldn’t summon up the energy it would of taken to figure out how to do it. Still disappointed that I didn’t win the sweepstakes. sad face
