I got one (and so did a bunch of my friends, we ordered together!) but I was more hesitant this year than last. As much as I LOVE advent calendars, I didn’t feel the same magic as when I was discovering davids via last years 24 days of tea. However I know when I get it, it will be a lot of fun again. I see what everyone means though, it is a lot of money for that much if you’ve tried most of them.

Is anyone planning on getting the Della Terra Teas “12 Days of Christmas?”

I was thinking about that one as a way to try some more of their teas…trying to be good with spending though.

It’s one of my pet peeves that the 12 Days of Christmas are the days after Christmas not before. I know it’s silly, but I wish they didn’t put the actual dates on the tea if they’re using the wrong dates.

But I did just place my first order with Della Terra, so I’m eagerly waiting to try some of their teas. The good recommendations on Steepster persuaded me. :)

I bought one! I don’t really think $30 is too expensive, you’re paying for novelty, which is what I enjoy about it!

For those passing because of the mention of 1 cup of each tea only, I had gotten the calendar last year, and unless they reduced the size of the little tins, you definitely get about 2 cup of each tea, not 1. Sometimes slightly more, sometimes slightly less. I really loved doing the 24 days of tea last year, and unless you look at the page a lot, you’ll have forgotten most of the blends included by the time you receive it ;) Every morning a new surprise! It’s also really fun when you know people who bought one as well and are doing it at the same time. You have a new topic of conversation every day and share the excitement of “what is it going to be tomorrow?!?” :P Though I’ll definitely pass for this year, as I’ve already tried all the teas included, it really is a good way to discover their teas if you haven’t tried many.

I totally agree!!! Even if you’ve tried most of the blends, most I haven’t had in over a year so it’s exciting to have them again. Damn. Now I want the calendar again, even when I decided to pass haha

Hmmmm, I’d try calling them, asking about the status of your order and when to expect it. If there has been some mix up, there might still be time to get it to you by the 1st. When they shipped mine, I received an email with a tracking number.

Davids is being really bad for me (also ordered on the 7th). I should be getting it today but they messed up my shipping address the first time because of their new website! It failed to include address line 2, and therefore excluded my unit number so it came to London but was un-deliverable. I also ordered on the 7th, and if something is wrong and for some reason when I get it there isn’t all the advent calendars I requested, and they can’t fix it because they are now sold out, I WILL BE SO ANGRY! End vent.

so i got Mine today and i got the Timolino mug And im not really thrilled with it ….the spout At the top is suppose to be able to drink out of and poor into a cup but the holes are so big i feel that tea is going to fall threw it and ill be eating it…. So i called the company told them of everything thats been going on and they are sending me a whole new mug and Christmas balls ornaments and told me i can keep the timolino because of all the hassle… i must say I really can stand behind a company who strives to make there customers happy. and they defintly are making me even though its taken 3 weeks for me to get this…

Oh man, I was just about to order the Timolino mug for my Mom for Christmas. I liked that it said it would keep tea hot for hours and hours. Do you think it was just that particular mug that you got, or an actual design flaw in general? I wanted to get that and the glass travel mug with the bamboo lid, but now I am certainly hesitating. Any feedback is appreciated! Don’t want to ruin Christmas with a faulty tea mug. :)

Small
Teavangelical said 2012-11-24 21:29:27 -0500

I have both the timolino and the glass one with the bamboo lid and I love them both. However, the timolino keeps my tea hot for way too long, it’s undrinkable for literally houses, so I prefer the glass one for that reason. however, if the timolino was being purchased for someone who wanted to keep tea hot for forever then it’s the way to go. it just doens’t work for me, cuz te only time i want to drink from my tumblr’s is when i’m on the bus. the timolino doesn’t cool down fast enough for that.

Josie Jade said 2012-11-24 21:33:25 -0500

Thanks, Teavangelical! It sounds like the Timolino would be perfect for me (I’m on campus for 12 hours a day this semester, and by the time I get to my last night class I would just about do ANYTHING for a cup of real hot tea). The glass one sounds perfect for my Mom, since she usually drinks hers right away. I think my plan to purchase is back on, yay!

Teavangelical said 2012-11-25 02:13:07 -0500

also the timolino seals really well, so you can literally throw it in your bag and go. and there is a secret spot in the lid to put more tea leaves!

Sweet Canadian said 2012-11-25 11:03:41 -0500

Miss SweeTea I have a timolino, I am also a student, and it is the best travel mug I’ve ever had. It is really worth it just for the seal, I never have to worry about tea spilling on my papers/books when I am on the bus or running around campus.

Sare said 2012-11-25 11:32:35 -0500

I honestly Don’t know if i just got a flaw I will try it out after Christmas cues i did stick it under the tree, but i work and there’s a lot of times when i cant get to my tea for an hour or so, so the temp would be perfect for me, DUes any of the tea fall out if its small Pieces ?? That’s what im Afraid of cues its just so Big and some of my tea is little Squares or very fine

I am very excited that it doesn’t leak. That’s probably even more important to me than the temperature. About 3 years ago my tea mug leaked all over my laptop and ruined in. Then about 2 weeks ago my lovely cat knocked the big bulky metal thermos that I’ve been using for my tea for lack of anything better. It spilled allll over my 2 year old Macbook. I got to get a new Macbook, so no complaints, but I’d really like to make sure no more tea leaks occur! It’s just so easy to throw my laptop and thermos into a bag together, so this would be great. I do wish it was a little larger in size capacity, since I’m use to my 16 oz Tervis cups. Butttt I can take a Tervis cup when I leave in the morning and then have the hot tea in my Timolino for later in the day. Oh gosh, I am getting so excited now. :) Thanks for talking me into this fantastic purchase, Steepster-peeps.

You’re supposed to removed the leaves and basket before you drink. If you leave it in you’ll have horrible bitter tea. I LOVE my Timolino, I never use the basket though, I brew my tea with the steeper and pour it into my timolino.

Shmiracles said 2012-11-25 18:44:02 -0500

omg you guys are gonna make me have to get one! you make it sounds so good :)

Small
Sare said 2012-11-25 18:58:28 -0500

See I got mine for work so I would be using the basket

Small
Sweet Canadian said 2012-11-25 22:42:22 -0500

Sare sometimes leaves do end up coming through the holes, but it doesn’t really bother me. If I were you, I would just take the basket out before drinking and leave it somewhere, maybe on a paper towel? I do that at work a lot. Or I brew Oolong it in, then it is not a problem.

Usually what I do with mine is I brew it in there with the basket before I leave for school/work, and then I take the basket out before I leave. That leaves room for milk :) And then if I want to use it later in the day I will just brew some other way and pour it into the mug as I am out and about. I am fortunate enough to have a desk though where I keep a few types of tea and a perfect mug.

I also would like them to come out with a bigger one, because then I could have 2 for different situations. I think they will in the new year if it is possible because people keep asking.

@ Miss SweeTea I throw it in my bag with my laptop at least once a week, once it wasn’t even closed as tight as it could go, and I have yet to have leak problems. I am still careful to make sure it is sealed all the way, but it really does work the best I have ever seen for that. And its nice because you can drink from any side on it, so when I am in class it is like having an actual cup rather than a travel mug with a small hole to drink through.

BoxerMama said 2012-11-26 06:17:27 -0500

I also use my for work. I just take the basket out. If I plan on resteeping I put it on a papertowel, if not I empty it and keep it in a baggie in my purse. :)

Warning: the Timolino may leak if you don’t put the rubber bit on that hides tea in the secret compartment. And I think it may have leaked on me once when the water was still extremely hot (boiling, pretty much). But, it’s pretty awesome. I brew tea in a different mug and let it cool a bit before pouring it in so it’s drinkable, but I’ve also brewed in-mug using the little basket, and it works alright as well, but definitely encounter the problem of the tea being too hot to drink for a fair while.

omg somebody stop me! i’m gonna place an order with davids so i can get the robins egg timolino, and then i’ll justify the order with the purchase of 7 more teas, even though my latest davids order hasn’t even arrived yet. wtf! like i’ve said before, i think i need an intervention.

you know what’s funny, is when i ordered the ‘24 days of tea’ box i was just thinking ‘yay i get to sample 24 teas’. it didn’t even occur to me until now that i might actually wanna try a tea a day. hah.
can’t wait. mine should arrive soon :)

I have a Timolino and love it! I usually remove the brew basket before drinking though. If I’m just pouring it into another mug and I leave the infuser in, some tea particles do end up in the cup, but they don’t bother me too much:)

I have my 24 Days of Tea box sitting on top of my cupboard. I can’t wait for December 1st!

I never use the basket, I LOVE that timolino too! I plan to get a second one. I love the new colours.
