Starbucks is acquiring Teavana - What do you think?

Just read this today! The Starbucks of tea is being purchased by Starbucks. Seeing as so many people have had unpleasant experiences dealing with Teavana’s pushy sales people, I wonder if things will get better under Starbucks’ management. I wonder also what will happen to Starbucks’ Tazo brand, and whether new tea cafes featuring Tazo and Teavana will spring up, featuring Starbucks’ signature design. As much as people like to hate on Starbucks, if they create tea cafes I won’t be upset.

It could be a good opportunity to grow the tea industry, but I hope they don’t just slap Starbucks branding all over it and sell it in current Starbucks cafes. It would be nice if they created Teavana cafes that spotlight tea and maybe sell a little coffee on the side. Ideally, the cafes could accommodate both the slow and fast food tea drinker crowds. Make it a nice place for me to go and have a pot of tea (i.e. give me the goddamn pot at least – leaves for resteeping would be nice too) and also a place where I can hit the drive through when I’m deep-shit late or out of town and need a tea fix.

I also hope that they take the cutthroat environment out of the Teavana culture, but I don’t see that actually happening. XD

Let me just say this: can it get worse? Starbucks is over-priced, yes, but I’ve never been hassled when I go in to look at their mugs or gifts. So who knows.

Yes- but since Teavana is already overpriced it couldn’t possibly get worse- could it??

There are a couple of other threads about this very topic. I personally think that the two deserve one another. I dislike Teavana, and I’m not a huge fan of Starbucks because their tea always has left something to be desired … so, I think it’s only fitting that the two merge. They can serve teas to the masses who have yet to discover good tea.
