Matcha and How to Make it

i’ve found that matcha puts me in the most amazing mood and matcha days are almost always good days. however I have a very sensitive stomach a lot of mornings and tend to get really busy right after lunch so sometimes several days can pass without me being able to fit it in without worrying it will make me sick/ make it difficult for me to sleep.
my favourite way to make matcha recently has been to whisk 1/2 tsp in 4 oz of cold water (I love making matcha, the whisking and watching the head form is really satisfying to me) add it to my 16 oz noble tumblr, then add either soy milk (I would so prefer almond but we don’t carry it in my store) or 1/2 water, 1/2 almond milk as well as a generous pump of agave. It makes me so smiley, so energetic and yet so calm at the same time! Love it.

Matcha lattes for me! I sift one-half teaspoon matcha (cooking grade is actually okay here) into a 16 ounce mug along with a tablespoon or so of milk and a couple pumps of Torani flavored syrup; blend briefly with my Bonjour Cafe Froth Turbo; heat one cup milk (skim actually froths best, for reasons I’d rather not ponder) in a small saucepan and, when it begins to steam, froth it up and pour it into the mug. Stir gently (I use a glass swizzle stick) and I’m ready to luxuriate in matcha decadence. Hardly traditional, but very, very tasty!

Helena, thank you for posting this thread. I was having a dreadful time with my pumpkin pie matcha tasting awful. I followed the advice given here 1/2 tsp and gently whisk and today I am actually drinking the entire cup gladly. Thanks again:)

I’ve been enjoying the Chi-Oka Matcha in the individual lifestyle packet servings. Taste great as its flavored with blueberries and pomegranates. Easy to mix…here is three easy ways to prepare it http://youtu.be/tTSmcfYHUqY

I put two bamboo scoops (about 1/2 teaspoon) and pour about 3 oz (usually a bit more) of 180 degree water and whisk it up with my chasen. Simple, quick, and easy :) I don’t like flavored matcha or flavored teas at all, and find this way gives me a totally non-bitter, tasty, awesome matcha!

Also- I use a small kitchen strainer to sift the matcha when I feel I need to, I didn’t want to drop the $$ for a strainer thats called a “matcha sifter” and is therefore way more than you need to pay… But to each his/her own!
