Book Club with a Tea Tie-In
I am so impressed that you are undertaking Anna Karenina. It’s on my “to-do” list but is very scary, like Gone With the Wind and War and Peace. : )
War and Peace is sooo amazing, and in my opinion it’s like cheesecake – best in small portions to savor. I highly recommend it!
I think that if I can do Anna Karenina, I will try War and Peace!
Me too, I loveeee long books and War and Peace is such a beautiful big book! Gone with the Wind is my most favorite book ever, once you start it is over much too quickly!
War and Peace bored me ALMOST as silly as Moby Dick did, but I was a kid when I tried reading it. I loved Anna Karenina though, and Gone With the Wind was my absolute favorite growing up, I carried it around in my backpack through all of 5th and 6th grade and read it over and over. :) now though I am older, think I am busier, and can’t imagine reading Anna Karenina in two months.
I downloaded the freebie version and I’ve read the first 7 chapters. I also ordered the Czar Nicholas II st valentines tea.
Hooray! I’ve got to get started, I am rushing through my current book so I can finally get started!
Good, it sounds like the free version is easy to read. I am finishing up the hobbit this week, then I will start:)
Hi!! I’m new to this site.. just joined yesterday. Is it too late to join this book club?
Welcome! It is definitely not too late to join. Many of us haven’t started the book yet :)
You’re just in time. :) If you’d like a sample of the Anna Karenina blend pm me, and if you want a sample of strawberry chocolate pm Serenity. Thanks for participating!
Greetings and Welcome. Put the kettle on and have a look around.
Hey readers, I have started A.K. and I am LOVING. IT.
Is anyone reading the introduction/ prologue etc? I started, then decided I had better wait until after the book to avoid spoilerish things.
I just peeked at it to learn a little about the translation. I usually save the introductory parts until after I’ve finished the novel. You are right there can be spoilers and no helpful spoiler alert headings, ha ha!
I have fallen so grossly out of reading, it’s just plain stupid. I even asked for a kindle for my birthday in July in hopes that it would inspire me to read more. The 2 books I have downloaded on it are too embarrassing to mention. Let’s just it’s a series of three and I couldn’t even get thru the 2nd book. Trashy stuff, mainly.
I want to join you all in this endeavor. I will download the book tonight and Josie, I would love a sample! I will pm you.
Fun!!
Hi Stephanie, trashy books = awesomeness! It is all about what you enjoy, right? I am so glad you are joining.
Yep, but the series did not hold my interest. At all. Reading the first 1.5 of 3 books frustrated me more than I enjoyed it. And now I can’t find my kindle!!!! (this is just really upsetting more than anything. I get passionate about this book club and now the thing is totally MIA!) Really, it just figures! : /
I’m downloading it on the iPad. No time to wait until tomorrow!
There you go, Stephanie, and I bet your kindle will turn up in an unexpected place. Sorry your trashy fun read did not turn out to be fun. I hope you will really like Anna Karenina.
How do I pm you, Josie? Now I just need to find my kindle!!!!
And having no luck. Will continue the search tomorrow. Figures. I will tr to get a used copy tomorrow, or go to the library.
Good luck finding your kindle! I got my book at Barnes and Noble. Although it was years ago it’s a paperback and was pretty inexpensive.
Thanks, Josie! Found an ipad app for $2. I will begin reading tonight. I just hope my eyes aren’t bigger than my stomach, so to speak.
Hooray! I’ve really got to get started on it, I am slacking compared to everyone else that’s already started! I have a really weird thing about not starting a new book until I finish the one I’m currently reading, blah.
Josie – I know what you mean. I sorta want to dive into it right now, but I think I’ll just start tomorrow to have a little break between books. Then I’ll can start AK without thinking about the crazy stuff that happened in my last book. (omg)
I’m itching to go. I even have my tea picked out for tomorrow!
When I was in university, I learned that reading as much as I could stand was better than nothing at all – you’ll be able to join the conversation at least! :D
So I was furiously reading my other book last night and all the time eyeing Anna K. I turned a page, saw I was at the end of a part of the book and simply picked up Anna K and started reading! I can finish that other book later, ha! I love Anna K so far, and am surprised at how easy it is to read.
Uniquity, I agree! Cavocorax, it is good to have a little breathing time between books, isn’t it? You just finished a really intense book from what I’ve heard about it. Josie, I can so relate! I try to finish a book before starting another one, unless I’m reading a non fiction and a fiction, I can usually swing that. But then sometimes it is impossible to wait! I am so glad you are loving Anna K., and I know, right? The language just flows, the story lines are so engaging…
I’ll third the delight on how easy the book is to read! I started late last night and reading at night puts me to SLEEP. But I’m pretty sure I got to chapter 5. With any luck, I will finish the book WELL before Jan 25 and have time to finish a cross-stitch project that’s taken me over 2 years to complete!
I would love to join in, maybe with the next book? I’m finishing my last two weeks at school and then I’ll have my life back again!
Of course! I understand completely, next week I have 3 days of finals and then I am done! We won’t be discussing Anna Karenina until January 25th if you find that you have time to join in!
Best wishes with your last couple of weeks at school, Tea and Trees, and please join us whenever you would like to.
