Favorite holiday movie and a tea that would compliment it.
Sipping tea, decorating the house and watching Holiday Inn has me thinking that a collection of wintery teas with Christmas movie names that compliment the movie would be fun :)
Since we are without the ability to make tasting notes today, maybe you can share your ideas.
Holiday Inn is my traditional decorate the house movie. I guess it could be watched any season of the year since so many are represented. My favorite moment is when Bing sings White Christmas for the first time, so my complimentary tea would follow that. I just received a sample from Della Terra of their Candy Cane black tea and even though I don’t get into mint, this was exceptionally delicious. I think a tea similar this would compliment the Christmas moments of Holiday Inn. Maybe with a white tea blend (or am I being too literal :).

What a lovely question! Since Hannukah is coming up first this year, and since I’m from a family of blended religious faiths, I wanted to start with two Jewish themed movies that have become favorites of mine, though they don’t specifically have to do with Hannukah. One is Crossing Delancey, with Amy Irving. It is a heartwarming and quirky romantic film. I will watch this drinking one of my new favorite tisanes, David’s Teas Honeybush Lemon Ginger. A new favorite movie which I plan to watch again is Arranged, about the friendship between an Orthodox Jewish young woman and a Muslim young woman. Tagline: Friendship has no religion.

I would love to enjoy that movie with a cup of green tea blended with mint. Many Muslim families with whom I’ve worked made delicious gunpowder green tea with mint and sugar and more sugar. I’ll skip the sugar and probably use a green rooibos if it is at night and accompanying it will be some leftover latkes!

I’m so glad to find that others are enjoying Arranged. Weren’t the two main characters wonderful? I loved it. Definitely looking forward to watching it again sometime this Hannukah.

Finally watched it last night. Wow! This is one of those movies you just can’t wait for a friend to watch so you can talk about it. Completely different setting and generation, but it prompted me to get out my copy of Fiddler on the Roof.

I love that movie! I also want to watch Elf. I am thinking a clear mug full of matcha latte for the amazing green color! And of course I love the taste!
A Christmas Story is my favourite holiday movie, I watch it at least 5 times every december! I agree that it would go well with a candy cane tea!
My favorite holiday movie hasn’t changed in 19 years—The Nightmare Before Christmas! I think Pumpkin Chai or a candy cane tea would go equally well with it.

How about White Christmas with….Harney and Sons White Christmas! I think Elf should go with Candy Cane Lane or Maple Syrup by 52 teas. The Grinch should have a matcha! Nice and bright and green!
Mmm Grinchy green tea… I don’t have any flavored matcha, but maybe I will trying brewing something minty (like Candy Cane Lane) and then mixing plain matcha into it?

I really enjoy Mixed Nuts with Steve Martin in it. It’s not a great movie cinematically or anything, but it’s bizarre and I like it and watch it every time I got to my grandma’s house. So…maybe Forever Nuts? I’ve never actually tried it, so I don’t know. I really like Walnut Green tea as well. That’s what I had this morning!
I’m a big B-movie fan, so the movie that immediately comes to mind is “Gingerdead Man” but upon deeper thinking, I am definitely a huge fan of Die Hard (Part 1) during the holidays. I have yet to drink a tea that makes me think of Bruce Willis or drank tea while watching Die Hard, but when I do, I will definitely be writing a crazy review on it!
I feel as though now I really, really need to watch Die Hard again for the first time in decades! : )
LOL @Lady of Spaydes — My hubby is a bit of a Grinch and when people ask him what is his favorite holiday movie, he often answers “Die Hard,” which gets him some funny looks. We re-watched it with friends last year and I agree that it totally counts as a “holiday movie” though. As for a tea, something strong and bold, or maybe even something boozy (spiked or just flavored)? I think some of 52teas’ Franks’ “Man Teas” may fit the bill.
I never really thought of Die Hard as a holiday movie, but it kind of is and it’s a good movie too! I would imagine a strong robust tea would be good for this movie. I may not like black teas, but a nice strong puerh tea would probably work too. I like the idea of the 52teas “Man Teas” though!
Oooh, I need to find this Gingerdead Man movie. I always watch Black Christmas (the original one) the day before Christmas Eve. Die Hard is a great one too.
My friends just set up a “bad movies on the big screen” night. Their first viewing? Thankskilling. I will be sure to point them in the direction of Gingerdead Man.
i like Edward Scissorhands as a Christmas movie!
and i’d pair it with something dark (for the creepy element) plus some pizzaz (for the quirky side) with a slight floral or vanilla tint (for the touching love storyline).
maybe Davidsteas Glitter & Gold? (but i haven’t tried it yet)
