Guayusa- what will it do to me?

I bought Guayusa on a lark. Its affordable and I read it might help me feel alert. I get sleepy on the job sometimes but don’t want a jittery/eyes-wide-open feeling. I’m wondering if any of you has tried it and if it really does have the effect of keeping you alert. Lastly, I’m wondering what is good to blend with it in case I hate it!

it will keep you alert, but, I don’t have a problem feeling jittery with it. It doesn’t give me the jolt or the icky after feeling that I get with coffee, it just wakes me up and keeps me feeling alive without feeling like I’m dancing on the edge, if that makes sense.

It tastes good on its own … but I really like citrus-y guayusa blends, so if you have some straight guayusa, just squeeze in some lemon or orange or lime. I also like spiced (think chai) guayusa blends, as well as CHOCOLATE guayusa blends. Of course chocolate makes everything better. :)

Any suggestions on where to purchase good blends of the guayusa blends, LiberTEAS? My Mom mentioned wanting to try some of this, so I was going to purchase just straight guayusa from Harney & Sons for her. However, the description said it was vegetal in flavor and my Mom doesn’t like green tea all that much, so I didn’t purchase it. However if I could find a citrus or chocolate version she would be thrilled!

Butiki Teas has some amazing Guayusa blends, but if you want a chocolate one, the only chocolate one I’ve found thus far is from Stash Tea.

VeryPisces-I drink guayusa when I’m barely functioning from being sleep deprived. I usually have 2 cups and it really helps me mentally focus but I don’t feel jittery.

Miss SweeTea-I’d love to suggest our Guayusa blends. We have: Organic, Good Morning Sunshine (creamy lemon), Tangerine Creamsicle, Cider, The Killer’s Vanilla (vanilla, mint, lavender), Apricot, and Winter Fire (cinnamon & chili) http://www.butikiteas.com/Guayusa.html. We also have a sampler that lets you chose which guayusas you would like for a discounted rate. http://www.butikiteas.com/Samplers.html. We would also be happy to create any custom blends using guayusa.

Perfect timing, I just made it to Stash’s website in time to qualify for free shipping. I got the chocolate guayusa and also the guayusa with black tea for my Mom. She’ll be so excited :)

Well I drank several infusions of Guayusa this morning and after an hour and a half, guess what happened. I YAWNED. Is there no hope for me?

I have no discernible reaction to caffeine which is a blessing (any tea I want, any time I want!) and a curse (nothing to keep me awake!). Perhaps you’re the same way?

What you have to realise with any herbal remedy is that they take a long time to start working. I’m not sure about guayusa but maybe you’ll begin to notice thhe difference in a few days???

Most people notice the boost from guayusa by the end of the cup, apparently. Well, at least the people I know (other than me). : )
