Yah I got pulled over and said officer I’m telling you the truth, he saw I’m just an old lady so he waved me on. White hair helps if you are tea drunk.

This happened to me yesterday morning, by complete accident. I would describe more as a ‘tea high.’ I drank just about 24oz. (two 12oz cups) of Marmalade and Pistachio Toffee by Butiki of all things. It took an hour to set in, but when I was hit…
The only thing I can relate it to is a marijuana high. I don’t know if it was because I hadn’t eaten since the afternoon before, or what. I ruled out the flavorings because I had all of those exact flavors before with no ‘high.’ But I had never had the Purple Kenyan Green Tea prior to that, so maybe that was the culprit?
Thankfully I live in Colorado, so acting like a stoned person is not out of the ordinary :P

I’m in Colorado too (Fort Collins) and usually better tea gets best results (sorry bagged tea). The purple green tea probably was the one. If you’re ever in town, drop by Happy Luckys Tea House and Treasures on Walnut Street in Old.

I placed an online order with them in December. It wasn’t until it arrived that I realized that they are located so close to me! It would be sweet to see their brick and mortar shop.

Hey all, I get asked about this quite often and wrote out a small list of the usual 4 types of cha qi I experience, from teadrunk to qihigh for when the question comes up. ;-)

There’s tea drunk, which i consider to be the weakest and most unbalanced form of cha qi. You actually feel unbalanced and not-so-great. Equilibrium is off and its generally not the best kind. The head feels light and full. Its enjoyable but theres so much better feelings with other types of qi. Tea drunk generally happens with large amounts of black tea, and is mostly just caffeine OD.

Theres emotion boosing qi. Usually older raw puerh does it, if you’re happy when you drink it, you feel floaty and awesome. If you’re not in a good place…well, generally not a good idea to drink that tea. It can get bad.

There’s zen qi. it calms you and gives a light body high. grounding and great for yoga and meditation. Young/mid-aged sheng and some shou puerh will give you this.

And then there’s the ultimate, most intense qi, which i call “qihigh”. 2013 Ontario 1357 is the only tea I’ve found so far with this type of qi. its uplifting and feels euphoric, clear mind, razor focus. You can hear the blood running through your body. Reflexes are crazy fast. Hearing, smell, and touch are all enhanced. Colors get intense and textures feel awesome.

My most memorable has been puerh with the exception of an oolong now and then and the old Verdant White Tea a few years ago that just did it…for whatever reason every time, one cup.

Qi is a whole other can of worms. I’ve hardly ever experienced it but did have an interesting occurrence recently. Two friends and I were drinking a very high quality Yunnan white tea that the owner of tea house offered to share with us. All three of us felt a warming sensation but in different places. I felt it in my hands, one friend felt it in her lower back and one felt it in her temple.
