Teacup Makeover

Just wanted to show these off because I’m really happy with how they came out.

A few months ago my aunt was tossing a bunch of unwanted cups and such and she gifted me with a bunch of teacups, most were singletons but there was a full set of…these things.

Which, as you can tell, were unbearably ugly.

I recently found a tutorial online that said you can draw on mugs and any kind of baked porcelain with Sharpie, re-fire them in the oven at 350 for 30 minutes, and it’ll stick.

With plenty of Sharpies and a glorious amount of spare time, I doodled on those fugly mugs and updated ‘em. I just went over the original design, what was left of it, in black and red sharpie and freehanded the rest. So now I’ve got a set of adorable, one of a kind teacups that I DON’T feel embarrassed to pull out.

Oh, my gosh! that is awesome!
I have not heard of this and I certainly have some ugly cups that I could doodle on.
How fun! Thanks for sharing!

Gorgeous! How does the Sharpie hold up to washing?

You should post an update in about 6 months after regular use to let us know how they hold up. What a clever idea!

Excellent! Very nice job! I would suggest hand washing — no abrasives.

MY first thought is to buy some plain white teacups and decorate them as favours for my wedding party. I may have a problem.

Those are brilliant!
