I collect books, mugs, anything with owls, tea of course. I have a collection of mugs with owls :)

I love some of the owl teaware out there! They are too cute!

Yes, I love them! Which is why my collection keeps growing…

I don’t know why, but I’m fascinated with owls too. I find myself thinking anything with an owl on it is cute :)

Owls remind me of my grandmother, who LOVED them. She collected owl and tiger related items. Any time I see something with and owl on it, I see her. :)

I collect tea. . . Does that count? I’ve also started acquiring Boxer figurines.

It definitely does on this site :)

I tend to collect things, not sure if it’s related to me being a tea drinker or not. Used to collect key chains, had so many for a while but I guess I outgrew it. Love books, don’t have to be hardcover, prefer paperbacks because they take up less room (That’s important!) Whenever I see any free books I have to at least look. Like office supplies, used to waste so much money on notepads, pens, etc. When I got into fishing I went crazy buying fishing gear, then ice fishing was even more stuff to get.

Now that I’m getting into looseleaf teas all that is keeping me from having a dozen teapots, infusers and hundred of teacups and pounds of tea is my lack of $ to buy it all. Back when I was content to drink only bagged tea I tended to buy a lot of that too.

I agree with you on the paperbacks & free books. Also, I love checking out thrift stores for books (that’s really all I go in for). How can you beat $1 for a book!! I guess with the free ones ;)

I collect Video Games, Movies, CDs, and Books/Comic Books. I will be so sad if all those things go purely digital.

Em said

Even if they do, hang on to them. The future might be like the Book of Eli and you’d be the wealthiest person alive!!

I actually haven’t seen that movie. Now I need to watch it. This is true, even if they don’t some older games for like PS1 brand new are expensive!

Andrew, I’m with you on that! Although I am a digital convert for the practical aspect of it, I still put my money on the real deal once in a while for books and records I judge deserving enough. There’s just nothing like the smell of a real book :-)

LOL….I come from a family of packrats, clutterbugs, slobs and procrastinators. I am all of the above! Whenever I get into a new hobby, I spend a fair amount of time and money collecting supplies for it. Like with knitting on one of the looms that you can get at Jo-ann’s, I started collecting yarn. I’ve finally got back into it but I highly doubt that I am going to use much of it because while I love the colors, the feel no longer appeals to me. Not to mention books on the subject, gadgets that help in some way…..I don’t actually drop the hobby completely, it just falls to the side for a while.

I DO THE SAME THING!!

Bubbles said

I hear you! I go back and forth between hobbies like crazy. I knit a LOT for awhile (loom, hand, you name it), then it’s onto macrame, then it’s drawing, round and round. Problem is, I accumulate all of these supplies each and every time that particular hobby comes back around! Tonight I bought a little loom for making pot holders, and I wanted to “BUY ALL THE THINGS!!!” associated with it. It was hard for me to say to myself “You know, you can always come back for more if you stick with it longer than a few weeks.” (I did, however, figure out how to use yarn on it, so bonus points to me on using supplies already on hand with it. LOL)

I collect wives. I’ve had 2 of them so far.

That’s more expensive than tea. :)

You’ve HAD 2, or you still have them? A collection is usually comprised of things you actually have… yes? :)

I collect pop up books.
I used to collect things that glow in the dark since that was my favorite color for quite some time, but it’s lost a bit of it’s magic. I have been going through a crazy purging spree lately trying to get rid of anything I don’t use often or can do without.

Bubbles said

I LOVE glow in the dark things. I do a lot of crafts…and so I have quite a few crafting items that glow. I keep most of my supplies in our bedroom, because our cats aren’t allowed in there. My husband HATES it. Says they glow and keep him awake at night. Not sure how he’s seeing them thru closed eyes…but whatever, LOL. I just have to make sure they are put away and we’re good.

I love that your favorite color was glow in the dark :)

I used to love all things glow in the dark, too!

Like several here, I collected before getting really into tea, so maybe tea draws collectors to it… :)

I collect shot glasses from places I’ve been, movies (though that collection has gone digital in the last 5 years, making more room for other collections…), books, old map art, tea cups/pots/sets; I was collecting glassware until I realized it was a bit out of hand and onto a garage sale it all went. :) I still have my collection of stuffed animals from childhood/teen years and if I find a particularly good one, I sometimes add to it. My interest seems to have mostly narrowed down to the more realistic looking ones, with bunnies being the main focus. Oh, and they have to feel really good. Which is helpful with space issues. :) And t-shirts – also from places I’ve visited – but I have a plan in mind for those. When I have enough, I plan on making a t-shirt quilt out of them.

i collect cats.
no, not really. but i am very much SAVE ALL THE KITTIES. i live with 3 cats, only 1 is mine. i’d have more, but i can’t afford it. lost animals usually find themselves on my doorstep..
i don’t really collect anything per se, but i am a bit of a packrat, so i have lots of things that aren’t always the most useful. i’m trying to get better at it, but i never really live in one place for long, so things tend to stay packed in boxes. makes it hard to know what i have and what i legitimately don’t need.

well, i suppose i collect songs. i have about 7000 on my laptop, and another huge chunk on my external, plus a huge rubbermaid container of cd’s i have yet to migrate to my laptop.

Nicole said

If I didn’t have a husband who was allergic to them, I’d have more than 2 cats! We got up to 3 for about a year but then an accident took us back to 2.

And 7000 is definitely a collection. :)

aww sorry to hear about the accident. :(

as for the song collection, running a music podcast for a little over a year sort of enabled it. ;)

Lol, mynameismoe, we pretty much have a twin situation here! Lost, cold and hungry kitties also have a direct path to my doorway (Last time I checked, there were no Crazy Cat Lady signs on my door, so what’s up with that?) As if they know I won’t be able to say no…
Music situation is also the same, on my way to 8000 songs on iPod and VIVA Rubbermaid containers :-) (The migration thing just takes forever!! )

I have 5,000 songs but I also have about 200 records. I never thought of this as a collection before (well, not the digital stuff). Maybe it is…
