Is "Physique" tea for real?

Ok so I was on facebook and an add popped up for a brand of tea called, “Physique” Body Tea. It seem interesting so I went to their website. What I found was just kinda annoying and hilarious. They want $25-$40 dollars for 30 bagged teas. Not only that but they market their tea as weight loss and slimming; not as in it could help promot that but as one of those weight loss products you see on TV.
I mean just read this excerpt:

I thought Teavana was bad. I mean they have a nice looking website and logo but man, so much over-priceness and miss leading.

Here is the site

Wow, that’s expensive for what that is!

Could get the same kinda laxative diet weight loss tea from an Asian market for $3 a box, though “Physique” brand might taste a little better having chocolate, etc in it. If it does have a laxative effect, it doesn’t quite work for weight loss.

Exactly. I guess that is what they mean when they say that they, “Enhanced” the tea; to make it laxative like.

Maybe if all you ate or drank was this tea, then it’d work for weight loss…but I think I’ll pass.

It is not laxitive tea. It is far from it. Read the part about chinese herbs… I have tried it and I didn’t have the bad laxitive issues that comes with teas like Ballerina tea. Awkward Soul you reviewed several of Physique’s teas in your blog and had really positive things to say about it. http://oolongowl.wordpress.com/2013/01/23/onyx-from-physique-tea-tea-review/ and http://oolongowl.wordpress.com/category/tea-reviews/physique-tea/

Speechless, and seriously I have hated Teavana badly enough for this selling tactic.

Even Teavana isn’t as bad.

“Can I still drink other types of tea?
Not allowed!”

Last Q&A on their FAQs page. WTF?!

WHAT?! FOR REAL!?

Not only that, but I love how they want 40 bucks for a simple herbal blend. I can get the same ingredients for that price and have a pounds worth mixed up.

EDIT: I miss read. It was an oolong tea mixed with herbals…. still over priced.

Where did you find that?

It used to be the last question on their FAQ page. It may have been deleted since then though

I can’t find any FAQ at all…

me either, they’ve completely revamped their site since I copy/pasted that bit. Weird..

Shame. I feel like I’ve missed out…

Ze- the cost is $9-14.99 I think that is quite reasonable.

Sorry, this is kinda of an old thread. That is there new pricing. It use to be $40+ for there teas.

i could see the these teas having a mild effect of what they are trying to sell. but the claims seem exaggerated at best, at worst outright lies/fraudulent.

but then again if people are stupid enough to buy into things like this maybe they deserve to be scammed.

HOLY FREAK!!!! TEA DONS’T HELP WITH HANGOVERS!!!! RAAAAAAHHHHHHAAGGHHH!!!
http://puu.sh/1AzyA

I beg to differ on that one. I have had tea in general after a night of drinking & had a significant difference than just water or juices. Although I don’t agree with what they have written.

Caffeine supposedly helps ease headaches, so I can see how tea could be better than other liquids (which would only combat the dehydration). But of course, every body is different and no company should be touting tea as a miracle cure for, well, anything really!

Ellen said

That could be just because you drank non alcoholic liquid ;p

Unfortunately, there is no actual way to treat a hangover once it is already happening. It is the body’s response to alcohol withdrawl. Even if the tea could supposedly remove the toxins out of your body, the hangover would still persist. All you can do is treat the symptoms.

That site is silly. Their secret magical tea ingredient is caffeine. We all know it raises metabolism momentarily and that caffeine is a diuretic. How can they claim the wonders of caffeine all to thierself???

Lady of Spaydes, you’re right there is nothing you can do… however, I’ve heard about certain things that help by purging toxins from the body, like oregano oil. Now I’m wondering if they added something along those lines to one of the blends.
Also, GNC has a hangover cure that pretty much wipes out all the bad stuff. Unfortunately it wipes out every vitamin in your body as well so you would need to replace it. Of course… If the hangover is bad enough, one might not care!

Shui Xian Oolong to drop 40 lbs? Well then I’ll just stock up on some more from Verdant.

ahahaha I know write?

She had been eating all the same foods as the people there… but they stayed skinny while she ballooned.

“You must drink tea!” they said. So she did. (She also quit the mindless snacking at midnight and eating simple carbs like white rice.) She watched in amazement as those silly 40 pounds slid right off.

Yeaaaaah, that’s a few big changes, there. What a shock – eating better AND drinking tea helped. Must be the tea ;)

I’m imagining a woman in a fat suit drinking tea and the fat suit just sliding off ;)

LOL. Eliminate the tea from that, and what do you have?? The exact same result.
