Amanatsu Oolong
Strawberry & Vanilla
Momo
Jasmin Mandarin Special Grade
Peach Melba
Sakurambo
Matcha Kirara Rice

Some overlap with what I already have, but I’m really pleased with it! Works out to $3.75 per an item, which is so ridiculously cheap.

You got the same bag I did, too. :)
It’ll be fun to see what you think of them!

I wanted to wait on sharing this until I heard back from customer service and I have to say I’m very pleased with Lupicia’s customer service (already loved them from my experience at the store). My first happy bag that I purchased online I LOVED and then when I saw what someone got here at the store I decided to go to our store (about 30 minutes away) to get another happy bag.

Again, I love the store and ended up getting the two teas they are featuring for new years, Daruma and Yume. But I was a bit disappointed with my happy bag when I got home because it seemed like I was missing something compared to what others received. When I added it up, the total was only $52.50 (I had bought the $30 happy bag).

I emailed customer service and explained I knew part of the fun was the “surprise”, that they may be the same, etc., but I wasn’t sure if perhaps something was left out of mine because of the value. I told them that if not, I understood, just thought I should check because I was a bit disappointed (e.g., I’m not one to normally email customer service, but this seemed a bit odd considering it only added up to $52.50)

Heard back yesterday, they said, yes, something had been left out and were shipping it to me. I live in the bay area, so I received it today, with 7 samples too!

My happy bag had:

10 tea bags of Cest Parfait
10 tea bags of Momoko
50g of Matcha Kirara Rice Tea
50g Jasmin Mandarin Special Grade
50g Sakurambo
50g Rooibos Ume
50g Rhubarb & Strawberry

and they sent today Assam Calcutta.

So A+ for Lupicia customer service in my book :)

Good to know, I am probably going to need to call them tomorrow

Mmmm Rhubarb & Strawberry sounds so good! Never heard of Cest Parfait need to look that one up! :) Glad that worked out for you!

Here’s hoping it works out for us as well, given that our bag is apparently way short :(

Daruma was my FAVORITE for a long time then they stopped carrying it! I guess this means it’s back in stock, even if only for a little while??

Yes, at the store it was. Had just come in. It smelled fantastic. I haven’t tried it yet, but Yume was wonderful. I’m trying to not open all the new tea at once….so tempting!

I finally got mine! Checked my delivery status on the way home from work and saw that it had been delivered. Longest ride home ever! My bag contained a lot of the same stuff other $30 bags seem to have.

Bagged:
Paradise Green (Hmm, not sure. But it’s bagged so if I don’t like it, others will take it)
Momo (Am hopeful about this one. :D)

Loose:
Pineapple Oolong (I still have an unopened pouch of this. Hope it’s good!)
Piccolo (Tasty!)
Matcha Kirara Rice Tea (yay!)
Grapefruit Green (been wanting to try this!)
Afternoon Tea (I have my doubts about this one. I’m not a usually a fan of Indian teas.)

Tin:
Momoko (I have this already, but not the tin. Might make a good gift.)

Teaware:
1 tea ball infuser ( :( )

Overall, I’d say that this is well worth $30. Yay! What can I do with the tea ball though? Can it be used for anything aside from tea? Maybe as a container for spices so I can remove them after cooking. :D Cool! New cookware!

I am going to somehow make a Christmas ornament out of it I think, haha

I always like to have extra teaballs since whenever I give someone a gift of loose tea, I also give them an infuser of some sort. Helps turn the item into a more complete “gift set” and also helps ensure they’ll actually use the loose tea!

If it wasn’t for our discussion and comparison, we wouldn’t feel a little let down. The happy bag is a nice offer but is lacking based on past years’ offering such as omitting a canvas tote and tea clips. I wish we didn’t have to bug them to offer more value because those who are nice enough to let well enough alone end up a little short changed. Might seem petty to do a dollar value count but the offer did state twice the value and my count was under that. In their email response, customer service admitted that my bag should have had a special tin so if they had chose to over promise just a little, they would have saved the need for extra postage plus I don’t feel they are being super nice – just pleased they are making it right.

Kittenna said 2013-01-10 19:29:19 -0500

I don’t think it’s petty to do a dollar value count. They advertised twice the tea for half the price (which is misleading in itself… it’s either twice the tea or half the price…). But yeah – most of the bags seem to be just over double in value, so I think it’s completely acceptable for people to check theirs. It seems like they didn’t put very much effort in this year, which I think may bite them, with everyone complaining…

kimlovestea said 2013-01-11 16:02:13 -0500

I agree! the wording was misleading, but I wasn’t so hopeful as to think they were offering tea for 75% off!

Kittenna said 2013-01-10 19:26:57 -0500

Quick question, all – did everyone’s tracking info say that their package was 3.2lbs? We’re being sent our missing teas, and it says the weight of the package is (again) 3.2lbs… which seems like an awful lot considering we’re expecting ~8 oz. of tea plus samples… I’m wondering, though, if that’s just the weight of, say, the package class that it’s being shipped under (or something to that effect).

Small
Alphakitty said 2013-01-10 19:33:24 -0500

Just checked the weight on my $60 bag and it was listed as 1.7 pounds.

Small
Kittenna said 2013-01-10 19:40:21 -0500

Interesting. I double-checked, and both sets of tracking info I’ve received read 3.2 lbs. The first time, it should have been a $60 + a $30 bag, but now it should just be approximately a $30 bag’s worth. Unless they are gifting us a bunch of extra tea (which would certain raise my opinion of them, haha).

Small
Sil said 2013-01-10 19:41:22 -0500

yes to extra teas please! lol

Small
momo said 2013-01-10 19:43:33 -0500

The $30 bag box that was delivered to my friend says 1.5 pounds so yeah they must be making up for it lol

Small
Azzrian said 2013-01-10 19:43:56 -0500

Mine was also listed 1.7 for ONE 60 dollar bag

Yay I got mine tonight! Seems different from what everyone else is posting, or maybe I just misread:
10 bags of paradise green
10 bags of momoko (not a tin. But I already had that, so that’s ok)
50 g loose:
Peach melba
Momo
Mate green
English blend
Sakurambo
Kamairicha “Gokase”
Pineapple oolong
Grapefruit green
Matcha kirara rice tea
Fantasy
Lychee
Thurbo FTGFOP1 Tippy Colonal 2012-DJ20

Of these, I’ve only ever had Momoko and the decaf version of momo. So I’m excited! The Thurbo alone is $30 O_o so that easily boosted mine up past the $120 value it was supposed to be. The Thurbo, Kamairicha, and mate are all “Plantation specified” which is interesting. I’ve never drunk mate, and the kamairicha says it’s from a place known for producing “pan-fried” green tea, whatever that means, so I’m excited!

Interestingly, two of mine have a Japanese label underneath the English one (it’s slightly see-through). I wonder why. Strangely, the mate green says it’s organic on the Japanese label, but not on the English label.

Oh wow, tell us how the Thurbo tastes! I like to think of “FTGFOP” as really meaning “Far Too Good For Ordinary People” :)

kimlovestea said 2013-01-11 16:01:06 -0500

hey, so aren’t orders supposed to include samples? I didn’t get any samples in this order. :(

Small
momo said 2013-01-11 16:38:07 -0500

yep, says on the side of the homepage: free sample with EVERY online order. mine didn’t have one, friend I ordered for did. it was just a piccolo tea bag (piccolo was in the happy bag so what a sample) but still.

Small
Kittenna said 2013-01-11 17:21:44 -0500

momo – was the sample she got the one with the magazine? Or did she get one from that too?

I noticed that only a couple people mentioned samples, so I guessed that they kind of ignored that part… sure it’s only one teabag, but that’s kind of the purpose of a sample … a small taste to entice people to buy more!

Small
Azzrian said 2013-01-11 17:43:02 -0500

My sample was piccolo from the tea magazine I got with my Happy Bag. HOWEVER on second thought – that is the ONLY sample I EVER get from Lupicia with ANY order. So I think that IS the sample. Did I capitalize enough? :) lol sorry about that.

Avatar_small
irishgirlieknits said 2013-01-11 18:37:00 -0500

I received a sample of Piccolo with my happy bag online order. When they shipped the tea that was left out of my in-store purchase, they included 7 samples, I think probably because they had made an error with my in-store happy bag. All 7 samples were different.

cuppaT said 2013-01-11 20:36:15 -0500

Anticlimactic, I know, but UPS just delivered my $30 fukubukuro. Same contents as was in Mercuryhime’s (et al), plus another teabag’s worth of Piccolo for my “sample”. It all looks pretty interesting; the proof will be in how I like the taste of Lupicia’s teas. If I like them and the same offer is made next year I’ll probably spring for the $60 bag if finances allow.

As to the silly little tea ball (in its cute little box!), Katiek has a nice idea for gifting them with loose tea. I am also thinking this one, if blinged out a bit, would make a neat pomander pendant. I would probably start by tossing in some valerian root to see how many of my friends remember “Rosemary’s Baby”…

Small
Kittenna said 2013-01-12 22:59:38 -0500

I have to admit… other than the missing teas/identical contents to many bags, this is still a pretty good deal. If I’m happy with the teas I got, I’d probably consider going in with one or two people on a $100 bag next year to maximize variety.
