Flavoring Matcha?

Does anyone drink flavored matcha or flavor their own? I’m thinking of using jasmine tea to prepare matcha.

I usually just drink Ryokucha if I want some of the effects of Matcha. But if I want a flavored Matcha, I would suggest trying one of these. They are great!

While matcha shakes are AMAZING, I’m talking about just flavored matcha (i.e. using an herbal tea to make the matcha instead of plain water).

Hi Khsheehan, thanks for mentioning our recipe page. We have a new site and the Matcha Thickshake (and many other yummy matcha recipes) is now in https://www.teas.com.au/blogs/blog/132262275-matcha-thickshake

We created a Mandarin Matcha that has all natural orange flavors and pulverized freeze dried orange sections. We pretty much turned the orange sections into powder, and the matcha coated it completely, so it doesn’t look like there is anything in it but matcha, but it is there.

Thanks, I’m not really an orangy person but I may just try it because it’s a flavored matcha:) I’d love to see you come out w/ more flavored matchas!

And we love being able to respond to our customer’s requests. The only problem with flavoring matcha is the add-ins. In order to prepare it like matcha is supposed to be prepared, anything we add (like the orange sections) needs to be able to be crushed into powder just like the matcha (at least in my opinion). I made some spectacular plum flavored matcha which just had matcha and natural plum flavoring, but I hesitate to offer that without any real plum in it. I’ll have to think about what we have and what we could do. Any ideas what you would like to see the matcha blended with?

Just going off some of my favorite green teas… vanilla, ginger, ginseng, rum (alcohol free of course!), jasmine, rose (maybe chocolate rose too!), chocolate mint, chocolate chili, and fruits native to Japan since it is Japanese. As far as natural flavoring, as long as they are natural (and organic) and taste natural- i think you’re good.

Used ROT’s Get Relaxed! to flavor matcha and it was a success all around- it worked great and it was relaxing… but then again is there anything more comforting than drinking from a bowl? lol

One of my favorite beverages on a hot day is iced matcha and honey tea. I prepare my matcha in a cocktail shaker, add honey, shake, add ice and shake once more….so delicious :-)

I prepared my matcha in orange mint today, THAT’d make an absolutely wonderful iced matcha. Out of personal preference I’d blend mine and leave out the honey.

Yeah sometimes my ideas are better left in my head- but as far as blending I’ve been blessed w/ barely any flops for my own personal tastes… the tastes of others, well… LOL but even I was leary about the reality of flavoring matcha. Start w/ 52 teas mandrin matcha, the flavoring is done for you:) It’s the only one I’ve found so far.

hum…thats not a bad idea. ill poke around and figure out my game plan :)

My sister-in-law adds cinnamon to her daily morning cup.

Good idea! I just don’t like the chunkyness of cinnamon. I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one that drinks matcha daily:)

I sprinkled matcha over cantaloupe once and most of it ran off and gatherered in the juice from the melon. Not what I was expecting, but SO good! That’d be a great flavor for 52teas. I normally avoid melon flavored teas because their honeydew.

Check this out! http://www.artoftea.com/catalog/ginger-matcha-p-68.html I called to make sure it is not a sweetened mix like Rishi had and it isn’t. Just flavored matcha! I also asked them to keep the flavors comin.=D 52teas, you aren’t the only one that flavors matcha now.

A nice tea lady inspired me to mix matcha into my creamcheese. Really really lovely, but not really the normal way to take in tea :)

Matcha cream cheese on a bagel w/ salmon would be neat!

Great idea! I have been pondering on making green tea tiramisu using matcha…have been drinking loads of matcha as it’s getting colder in Australia. It’s very comforting :)
