Similar to Copper Knot?
I love the copper knot from teavana and I’m looking for something similar from other companies. Can any of you recommend some to try?
I too am very interested in this. Hope to find out more.
I’ve only had Copper Knot a couple times, but one thing that might help you and others is knowing where it’s from, which is something Teavana only gives a little bit of info on. It’s from the Yunnan Province of China, apparently grown at 2,000 feet atop the Yunling Mountain Range. Little else is given except that it has both leaves and buds, though it does not give the proportions (the leaves are the dark part and the buds are golden) and that it is hand rolled.
I personally do not have enough experience with Yunnan black teas but I do know this is not like the light super buddy, golden tipped Yun Nan Dian Hongs. I’d say the bud proportions are close to Teavivre’s Yunnan Black (I’ve tried their golden tipped, full leaf and black): http://www.teavivre.com/yunnan-black-tea/
And though I haven’t tried it, it looks like Adagio’s Yunnan Noir would fit the bill, it’s hand rolled: http://www.adagio.com/black/yunnan_noir.html?SID=36d0a44266570a8dfb399d38e75b24e5
Basically you are looking for a darker more robust Yunnan, not a Fujian (though I love these) or a Keemun. Anyone with experience with these please chime in!
I love the way you went about this. Now I want all these teas!
(the leaves are the dark part and the buds are golden)
Thanks for this, I’ve been trying to figure out how you can tell by looking what is bud and what is leaf.
