Looking for a Caramel Black Tea
I I fell in love with Teaopia’s Caramelissimo just in time for it to be discontinued…and I’m looking for a substitute. I just tried Davids Tea’s salted caramel black tea, and it’s alright it’s just not…the same.
I prefer Kusmi’s Caramel. That one is my Perfect Caramel Tea. :) Also Le Palais des Thes’ Toffee which isn’t caramel as such, but rather in the same sort of category.
I haven’t got the first clue as to how any of these would compare to the one you prefer, though.
It’s hard to say. Maybe because it was a Ceylon black tea? And the caramel was the main flavour, there was no other chocolate or coconut or anything in it.
I think the toffee I mentioned is really a combination of vanilla and chocolate, but it came off as caramel-y and fudge-y to me. The Caramel from Kusmi is just caramel, but it’s on a Chinese base.

If you don’t find anything that suits your tastes, totally go with Stacy on this one. She’ll get it right – her blends are damn good, not artificial tasting and she’s a pleasure to work with.
Maybe in the future, at the moment I’m not able to commit to more than 2oz of any tea I’m not madly in love with/havent tried. <3

I think I’m going to look into the adagio caramel for starters, and then branch out? I’m in canada with a limited budget so really not keen on committing to 50g of a tea online that I haven’t even tried yet.
If you’re in Canada, Adagio might not be a great starting point. Their shipping to Canada is RIDICULOUS. If you do find a Canada friendly Caramel Black, I’d love to know though! :)
Karys – if you’re in Canada I second what ubiquity says. Not only that but adagio’s black base is pretty hit or miss (mostly miss for me to the point of not bothering with their black teas) there are a bunch of decent options that are more accessible to those of us in Canada. While not what I prefer, della terra has great sampler packs you can customize and they have a few caramel type teas. Also, steeped and infused does samples. I’m drawing a totally blank at the moment but I know I’ve had a few decent caramel type blacks since caramel is always a flavour I can get behind. Ill try and give it some thought and get back to you.
Ah, I hadn’t gotten a cance to see their canadian shipping yet. Sadness. I really wanted to try their sesame too.
A local tea shop sells a toffee black tea, which also has a little bit of caramel and chocolate. I love it, it’s so creamy, aromatic, sweet, and perfect with a little bit of milk.
They have an online store, but sadly, they don’t send abroad, only in Spain.
52 Teas Pumpkin caramel is DELICIOUS
While i agree it’s delicious, not sure if it’s comparable to the teavana caramel tea, what with the pumpkin spice in it.

I was disappointed by the only caramel tea I have tried, but liked the idea. This thread inspired me to try an experiment.
I added about a teaspoon of caramel syrup, which I usually use as an ice cream topping, to a rather mediocre black tea I had lying around, and the result was pretty good. If you experiment you may be able to adjust the quantities to suit your taste.
Although the syrup contains sugar, the tea did not come across as overly sweet, though I usually sweeten black teas.
Bigelow has a Caramel Vanilla that’s tasty, but it’s a bagged tea.

It’s pretty decent for a bagged tea.
This is not a recommendation as I haven’t tried it, but MlesnA teas are pretty good. They do a Ceylon tea with caramel that you might like.
Fortunately, here in Australia, there is a company called The Tea Centre and they do lovely caramel tea.
