Gave up Statbucks, found love (tea)
That’s right, I was a Starbucks addict. Any suggestions on where to start? So far I’ve grown to love Black. I know there’s more out there! I start at the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf tomorrow morning. P.S don’t like Chai.

You might try those. Of the ones I’m sure of (and available for purchase atm) those are the best.
One important thing though – I don’t know if you already know this or not – all high quality black teas are incredibly easy to oversteep if you try to brew them western style. My rule is – start with 15 seconds first and work from there.

Welcome to tea! I’d recommend trying good quality samples of a bunch of different types of tea (different styles of green, black oolong, and don’t forget pu’erh!) The samplers from Teavivre.com are good, but are only Chinese and Taiwanese.
What is pu’erh? I’ve never heard of it. I’m new here. I love tea, I have a huge collection, and I have a Teavana Japanese Cast Iron tea pot I got for Christmas 2 years ago.
Shely, I hadn’t heard of pu’erh until I got on steepster either! Its a type of tea that’s fermented and aged, making it sort of like black tea but with a bolder, sort of earthy taste. Its not very well know about in the U.S., but its gaining popularity for purported medical properties (I think Dr. Oz talked about it? I know tea is healthy, but I think they take it a bit too far with these things)
Personally I just drink it because it tastes good.

NM tea co. is really good, I like the cream of vanilla black tea. There are some tasty breakfast teas as well.
There are different types. At NM tea co. – Irish, English, Scottish, and Canadian.
Personally, I like the Irish one.
I started my tea drinking about a year ago when I was trying to give up softdrinks. This past year has been a wonderful exploration and I’m still just starting! There are so many different teas in very flavor and price range. I’d really recommend trying a variety of samplers to try and determine if you prefer a lighter, white tea, green tea or black tea – and even herbals, mate and rooibos. So many different options. If you decide you like one kind of tea, then there are a range of different kinds, locations and flavors within that familu.
So if you try some and aren’t thrilled, there are so many more to try until you find your favorites. And the best thing is if you decide you like different kinds for different times and days. So much variety.
The thread with people’s favorite tea vendors is a wonderful place to start to learn some good sites to explore.

We are curious though—why the switch?
There’s a sophistication that comes with tea! At least, I believe so. Also, there are so many different kinds I’m interested to learn more and try different types. :) The switch I guess started when I realized how bored I was with the choices and I spend at least 3500 dollars a year at that place!
Goodness. Tea is certainly more unique than coffee—at least in the West. Be prepared to answer for your transgressions against coffee. Understandably it is difficult for many to understand tea (marketers like to keep it wrapped in a thick mystique).
What works for us: We simply tell people that tea is better for the environment, better for our bodies, and better for our wallets than specialty coffee drinks. Oh, and we’ve (humans) been drinking tea for 3000 years.

Oh no….really…no more STarbucks? I’ve never been a dedicated coffee drinker but their frappuccinos are pretty good… :)
I am a bit of a hybrid…lots of tea in my cupboard but when the need arises, I will find my way to starbucks for a little kick….
