Oh, Teavana.

I bought a few teas from Teavana’s Heavenly Sale recently. Now it’s no secret that Teavana makes very sweet teas, and it would be silly to buy from them expecting anything else. But I just opened my new pack of Amadine Rose and pulled out a misshapen quarter-size lump of purple (I know, wtf?) crystallized sugar.

I think the really sad thing is that I can only roll my eyes and say “Oh, Teavana.”

Some reviews say that there are candied violets in this tea. Perhaps it is one of those? I didn’t see any in my bag.

Oh, that makes sense! It’s a candied violet gone wrong. Like the one left in the sugar syrup until it turned into a hard candy. I’m not actually upset about it and the tea still tastes fine, but I figured it was worth sharing for a laugh.

Be happy it was sugar. I made a pot of the pineapple kona pop a while back, went to take out my basket and found a snail shell on top. On the bright side I got that entire bag of tea replaced and got a bunch of other teas as a sorry. Seems teavana doesn’t like it when you post pictures of snail shells in your tea and tag them on twitter.

Just ran out of my jasmine tropica pouch from that ’I’m sorry’ shipment. Now I want more so they won in the end…

I am neutral on tea outlets. At this point I think Teavana does a fine job. I got a kilo of My morning Mate for around what was it $30? at their December 75% off sale. I havent found that their teas are too sweet although I avoid all the concoctions with tons of fruits added. Their copper knot hongcha black tea is the best Ive ever tasted and resteeps well. If Starbucks screws up their supply and the quality goes down there is also Davids Tea, Oolong Tea House, Naked Leaf and many others in Calgary not to mention online. Tea is an enormous industry so its no worries if one supplier cant get it right, simply go somewhere else. Given that tea has been around thousands of years you arent likely to ever not be without the tea you really want.
