Tea in the Future
Watching Microsoft’s ‘Future Vision’ videos makes one wonder how the tea global network will have changed in 10 years, 20 years, the future.

Just imagine how you would like the future of tea to act:
How will future tea growers become sustainable against climate change, rising populations, and the decrease of key resources (water, productive land)? How will the treatment of associated ecosystems, and the use of agrochemicals, be done?
How will the use of technology create relationships and link communication between farmers, retailers, and customers?
Will technological advances allow ‘homebrew’ tea, grown at your home or community? Will there be a greater connectivity amongst tea drinkers?
Will tea bags still be around, or how will the consumption of tea have changed? Will tea production change?
How involved will the tea network be in other aspects of daily life, driving social change, the arts, health, etc?
What will our ‘tea ware’ be like, and how will we buy our tea?
Be imaginative, be science fiction, be as unbelievable as you like – I would love to hear your thoughts on this.
I haven’t had a chance to watch the video yet though it sounds interesting. Will try to watch it tomorrow. But I’m reminded of “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” when Arthur desperately wants a good cup and tea and all the computers on the ship go offline to make him a cup, and the ship gets attacked or something… Been a while since I last read that book.
If I remember correctly, he also has to explain to the computer what tea is.

Hopefully this doesnt affect the tea market.
Likely in the future there will be more studies on actual physical and mental benefits of tea with specific outcomes from tea drinking.
So I know this is kind of irrelevant, but whenever I think of tea in the future, I think of Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, when Arthur Dent first goes into space and asks for a glass of tea, which, or course, is terrible! I can only hope that tea is never corrupted like that though! On another note, I am studying geography in school, and these are all questions that are asked in all of my classes. It is a very interesting dilemma and I hope to do my thesis on questions like the ones you have proposed!
