My princess is named Emma, and she is most certainly my cat child. We rescued her from outside when she was a kitten and she has treated me like her mother ever since. I take far too many pictures of her and talk to her a lot.

LOL, she sounds like a sweat heart.

Such lovely pictures! Unfortunately I’m in a similar situation to a lot of other people here… no cats allowed in my apartment. Fortunately I convinced the landlord to let me keep my rats here with me though. I’m happy that I at least don’t have to go petless!

yup, we are having trouble moving, due to not being willing to give up our cats…

great kitty pics!

I like your pics

Thanks all! My partner went to school for photography, so when he busts out his camera I often persuade him to take some kitty pics. :)

I’ve had my cat Samkin since he was 10 days old. His mother ate 2 of his siblings so we ended up with him and his brother Cornelius and sister Maddy. Handraising kittens is an amazing experience! He’s a champagne tabby and I love him absolutely to death. He’s the alpha of the household but he’s really a squishy-hearted mama’s boy.

Sadly I don’t live with him all the time now. ;~; He lives with my parents, and I was going to bring him to my apartment but he’s so social and a big outdoors cat so I can’t imagine him taking him away from his siblings and the outdoors, it would be torture. But I do see him fairly often since they only live and hour’s train ride away! When I come back he gets all snooty at first, as if he’s punishing me for being away. XD

I have four cats, who regularly hang out with me while I drink tea. Three are Norwegian Forest Cats; one is a cat I rescued/adopted from a farm. One is solid blue (gray); one is a cream-colored tabby, one is solid white with blue eyes, and one is a brown tabby with white on his chest and paws. All neutered males.

They are generally relaxing company, but two of them are kittens, so they get into some mischief and chase each other through the house. If I could I would post photos here.

Susan, is your white blue eyed kitty deaf? 99% of them are. Mine is. I use hand signals to communicate, altho I think that she may hear very loud noises or high pitched ones.

It’s true that many blue-eyed white cats are deaf, but surprisingly, my boy is hearing! As is his father, who is also a blue-eyed white. (How cool that your cat understands hand signals — she must be very smart!)

Here is a link to a photo of my white cat’s father, whose name is Sangha Shalu (scroll down after clicking on link). My boy looks just like him.

Sangha Shalu, beautiful cat and beautiful name. I wonder if deafness is more common in the females? My vet is the one who told me about the 99%.

Some blue eyed white cats end up being partially/completely blind instead of deaf. Such beautiful looks, but not genetically ideal, I guess. :(

Uniquity, well yesterday I had to take her into the vet after hours (on Sunday) because she was acting listless, not eating, eyes giving me the “I don’t feel good” look. Turns out she had a fever so he gave her a shot for that plus an antibiotic. Her third eyelid of the right eye was showing which scared the heck out of me. He said that is common when cats have a fever from infection or eye injury. We looked and couldn’t find any injury or abscess. This morning she was much better and 99% herself again. Eating, too. Now I’m worried about the blindness thing! oh my. I guess we’ll just have to watch her closely.

I’m glad she’s better! I’m sure your vet would have noticed by now if she were having any serious sight issues. As would you have! :)

I have two cats that I got when I moved to an apartment in the city. One, Belgium, I rescued from a no-kill Animal Shelter. She was the only cat that was there the longest and when I saw her she crawled up on me and refused to go down. I had to have her.

The other is Schiester, who my Aunt raised for me until he was litter trained. I was only allowed one cat in my apartment but I couldn’t tell my Aunt NO when she handed me a kitten so… two I have. (I no longer live in that apartment though)

Both are tuxedo cats but Belgium looks like someone in her family was a manx since she hops like a rabbit a lot and is shorter than any cat I’ve ever had. She’s also really bad with getting into moods but I would be moody if I was in a shelter for a year… Anyways, both my cats are pretty needy and have an obsession with whatever I have. Many a time has a cat head been in my teacup, much to my horror. And if Bel smells Chamomile? Well.. I won’t be getting near that box of tea since she will sit on it and refuse to leave…

I just want to say that I have gotten the BEST support for my poor little sick kitten on Steepster. I thought this was the appropriate thread to THANK YOU all so much. I had to bring my baby cat to the vet ER this weekend because he was vomiting blood and not keeping anything down…he ended up with an intestinal infection and plenty of meds and love.
However, of all the people I shared this with and shared my stress and anxiety over it with, my Steepster friends (I consider you friends) were most supportive and understanding. This is an amazing community of people, and I want all you kitty lovers to know that you and your little felines are in my prayers as thanks for you being SO AWESOME!!
