Alternative to Thai Tea Blend from Teavana? Another tea, or try to blend my own?

Can anyone recommend a tea similar to Teavana’s Thai Tea Blend? The main ingredients are black tea, rooibos, coconut, vanilla, almonds. Mostly I loved the coconut & vanilla combo.

I am just finishing up some I must have gotten a few years ago, and am so disappointed to see that they no longer make this blend (seems to happen with all my favorites).

This is from Dylan somewhere here on Steepster: 2 parts Burrough’s Brew from Serendipitea (coconut), 2 parts Amandine Rose (almond), and 1 part Colonille from Serendipitea (vanilla). And he had told me a vanilla rooibos would be even better for that.

I tried it with: Coconut Trees and Vanilla Fields from Della Terra, French Vanilla Rooibos and Almond Sugar Cookie from Simpson & Vail, because those were ones I had around. It’s possible to get close but it just doesn’t taste 100% the same. But if you can mix and match with an almond black, a coconut black, and a vanilla rooibos that’s probably the best way to do it.

Adagio has a thai chai which is light on the chai aspect. It has lots of lemongrass too which makes the tea quite unique and delish. Its by far my favorite adagio tea.
Im glad others like coconut teas. Perhaps della terra will put out a coconut blend. Will have to mention that for their spring teas.

While not a black tea, Persimmon Tree’s Coconut Creme has a great creamy vanilla coconut taste! You could always throw in some slivered almonds as well. And as far as coconut + almond goes, 52teas just released an Almond Joy inspired blend.

That or I’d go with this weeks 52 Teas, though if you aren’t familiar with 52 Teas, you can only get it while supplies last, or if it gets reblended.

This one is really good, a little strong in vanilla (which caught me off guard at first, but I’ve come to enjoy it).

You really do need to use paper filters or a super fine mesh strainer for it though.

Adagio’s Thai Chai is also really good, but it’s very different from what you’d get in a restaurant. It’s also sensitive to measurements and brew times.

Thai chai is definitely best when brewed with 1.5 tsp for 2-3 minutes. You can resteep it 3-4 times.

Mmmm I love teas with Lemongrass. Think I’ll have to see if my favorite shop has that one. They carry some Harney and Sons.

Snowflake won north American flavored black tea at last year’s tea Expo. Very smooth and flavorful. Ceylon black tea, coconut rasps, natural flavour and almond flakes but no Rooibos. Wonderful done like a London Fog.
