Official *What did you get in the mail today?* Thread!!!
I got my Wild Monk sheng cake from Mandala today, and a box to store it in that has some room to spare! Anything wrong with storing other puerhs in there with it since there is room?
OMG! I got the Just Organic Tea samples! They include all their teas! They gave me twelve teas as well as an organic sugar sample. The only problem I have is that I have the Butiki TTB. I have to get it in the mail by Wednesday! So much tea, so little time. :D Happy girl!
As others have mentioned the Just Organic Tea samples arrived today and they spoiled me rotten with all the samples!
I also got my Just Organic Tea samples. Totally unexpected and awesome. And not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but while it’s incredibly nice that they sent me samples of all their teas, I rather wish they hadn’t since I was really only interested in the ones I had asked about. Lol. Not to mention the two spice teas made everything else smell and are so strong smelling I actually feel ill from them. x.x I’m hoping that the smell didn’t permeate into the rest of the teas….And I’ll probly end up tossing these into the TTBC that will be coming in the near future since I have no interest in the rest of them. Lol.
I put divided up the packets by smelly ones, not smelly, and plain, put the packets in containers with a little baking soda and covered them for about 2 hours. It seemed to help. (I didn’t put the packets touching the baking soda) I left the smelly ones in with the baking soda a little longer.
Huh. Never thought of doing that. I just dumped the ones I wanted out onto a little foil and folded them up into little packets.
So far the assam that I made didn’t have any sort of spice taste to it, so I think they’ll be alright. ^^
I was surprised to get the number of samples they sent as well. I was happy to get so many as there are several I’ve not had anything like. I too was worried about the strong smelling ones affecting the others too.. I separated them from the rest of the bunch and hope they haven’t change their flavor. I haven’t tried any of them yet so time will tell.
I received my Lupicia order today. Yay new tea!!!
Giant swap box from the forever lovely VariaTEA today: some things I knew I was getting, like Camellia Sinensis goodies, but most were lovely surprises :)
I received my awesome swap from jump62359 and if i ever get a moment to breathe i will SO be enjoying the teas she sent!
Got my RiverTea order only six days after placing it!
-strawberry orange black tea
-assam beast of the east
and (generous!) samples of: spring tea, tea of kings, and tropical dream.
So excited to bust this open! I’m especially excited to try the strawberry orange tea and the creamy vanilla. If I think it’ll work, I might even try them together after trying them separately.
Hooray for RiverTea! Spring Tea, Mulberry White, and Tea of Kings all rock! :)
I can’t wait to try them!! I remember you tried rivertea like a million years ago and your reviews got me excited!
Oooh does it? I’m going to have to try that after I try it hot. I’m kind of disappointed that you can only order 50 g and no other quantity (says the girl who hasn’t tried a single one of them yet!)
Oh, wow, I got my first box of Simple Loose Leaf subscription! I didn’t know they were sending it so soon :D I haven’t even opened it yet. I am just really surprised it arrived. Anyone else got it? What were your picks this month?
Jealous! I’ve subscribed, but my box hasn’t arrived yet. Let me see what my choices where:
Darjeeling second flush
Sweet peach white
I think that was all—I can’t seem to find an email with a record of what I chose—maybe that gets eaten up by the website? Anyway, it said it was going to ship May 1, so that’s awesome that you already have yours!
May 1st! That’s what I thought! Really weird. Perhaps they got a lot of orders because of their $1 for first box offer, so they had to start sending them out sooner?
But anyway, I got the darjeeling one, too. And the Sencha. The sample I picked was Yunnan Breakfast and it looks more generous than I imagined.
Ooh! Exciting! Mine will hopefully show up quickly, too! I went with the selection of all of them because I really was interested in four of them, and I figure I can put the fifth one in one of the tea boxes I’m on. I can’t for the life of me remember which sample I got, though.
Yeah see I don’t know if there’s a way to know what you ordered, but hey-surprises in the mail are cool too!
Yeah, it’s the May box! I probably would have gone with all of them if there was a third tea appealing strongly to me. I was hoping for some delicious oolong but unfortunately it was formosa that I am not a huge fan of (well, perhaps I haven’t had the right one?).
I got a sample of the oolong last month and I quite liked it.
It’ll be a nice surprise when it shows up, whatever the sample is. I think the sample is one of the best parts of the box because if I’m not sure about one of the teas on the list for the next month, I can get a sample and decide if I want more of it, or if I just want to get something else instead.
I got mine too! Which was very surprising because my subscription was supposed to start with June and I never picked out the teas I received :-/
It took Andrew at Simple Loose Leaf all of 7 minutes to figure out the issue and respond to my e-mail! Seems the box was sent in error, so they’re just letting me keep it without charging me for the month. Which is very nice of them. A+ for customer service. Also, A+ for excellent packaging. It is super rainy here right now. Water soaked through the box, the tissue paper wrapping the teas, and the bags containing the teas. Only not, because the packages are very well lined. The tea stayed perfectly dry!
I’m quite pleased so far. Here’s hoping the actual tea is good too :-)
I got mine today, too! Sweet white peach & Darjeeling 2nd flush with a sample of Yunnan Breakfast Black. So excited!
Kaylee – that is really nice of them! I haven’t tried the teas yet, they are waiting in a… queue to be tried ;D I also liked the packaging a lot. Very simple but neat! And, apparently, rainproof :D
Jennkay – I am really curious about your Sweet White Peach tasting notes. Also, I am so surprised you didn’t pick the Sencha as I think of you as a huge green tea fan :D But I guess maybe you wanted to try something else, haha.
I received mine also today! I went for a sample of everything and a sample of Pu’er Tahiti.
Kat_Maria, I actually had to think about that one a lot because I really do love my Japanese green teas. But then I realized I already had so many, so why not branch out a little? Plus, the other two teas did not appeal to me, so I didn’t want to have little samples of them lying around wasted.
