I got my very first gongfu pot. It’s tiny, glass, and completely ADORABLE. I also got some more Whispering Pines Tea (Don’t look at me like that. I can stop anytime I want. That’s a lie). I got Imperial Gold Bud Dian Hong, El Dorado Chai, and a sample of Wildcrafted Da Hong Pao :-)
I also got the Butiki Educational Traveling Tea Box 2!!!! So. Much. Tea. I’m swimming in a vast, warm ocean of tea.

Haha! I DEFINITELY CAN’T STOP!!

And pics please. Need to see the pot :-)

MzPriss said

Yes, I’d like to see the pot too please

mj said

Here it is! I stuck a flower from one of my African violets in the spout because it’s so cute that it deserved a flower :-) It’s sitting next to my bonsai sago palm, so that’s how small it is!

Awww! So cute!!! And that Shake’s binding? Gushing!!!

mj said

Thanks :-). Yes, my apartment totally smells of leather-bound books and mahogany. Just kiiidddiinnng, I got that shakespeare book at Barnes and Noble haha. I have an Edgar Allen Poe one that is similar, but has a black cover with silver text and detailing.

boychik said

I have exact same pot(s). Is it 150ml or 200ml? They are so cute and handy. Enjoy!
I also love your sago palm. Did you buy it recently?

mj said

Gongfu twinners :-). Mine is 150mL and I already love it! I think I got that sago around 4-5 months ago? I also have a regular size sago at work, in what I refer to as my “lab garden”.

boychik said

Omg they look so good. I think you have a green thumb. Have you repotted them or they are in original soil? Jade is gorgeous, I would prune it to brunch out even more. Is it eastern, southern window?

mj said

Thanks boychik :-). I don’t know that I have a green thumb, but I have recently become a crazy plant lady lol.
I repotted them in the sense that they are in different pots than the one I bought them in. They’re in mostly original soil, but I added in Miracle-Gro moisture control potting mix if they needed more soil to fill up the new pot. How should I prune it? I don’t think I’ve ever pruned anything I’ve grown lol. The window is southwestern facing.

boychik said

Since you got them recently I suggest you to read the following to avoid any problems which will come with Miracle-Gro moisture control( just evil). I’m growing all my plants in this mix successfully

mj said

Thanks boychik! One of my good friends is dating a guy in the plant biology department and he said he can get me a huge bag of potting mix for free, so I’ll probably go with that :)

I got my Whispering Pines order today AND my big Mandala order. I am currently sitting on my couch with boxes of tea, getting ready to unwrap all these pu’erh cakes.

Pu’erh world, here I come!!!!

Exciting. Have fun!

WOOHOO!!!!!

That’s the best part, anticipation of opening everything up :-)

Want pics of your pupu stash!!! And what did you get from WP???

MzPriss said

WOOOOO! Excited for you. What all did you get?

SarsyPie said

I will work on pics for you, TTF, as soon as I get everything unwrapped. :)

It would probably be easier to say what I didn’t get, but here goes. You may NOT use this against me in later conversations, TTF… snitches get stitches. Remember it. LOL

Mandala: Heart of the Old Tree 2012, Wild Mountain 2011, Noble Mark 2012, 2014 Autumn Song, Old Tea Nugget Brick 2011, Old Tea Nugget nuggets 2009, Phatty Cake 1, Phatty Cake 2, Imperial Dark, Black Beauty, some stain dissolver, and a pu’erh pick because HELLO

WP: Cocoa Amore, Elderwood Manistee Moonrise, Alia, Autumn Foxtrot, North Winds

You know… an awful lot of this list is due to 2 very lovely ladies. I wonder who they could be…

MzPriss said

YES it is due to US that you have a shitload of awesome, amazing tea to drink. YOU’RE WELCOME!

SarsyPie said

Well, when you put it THAT way! :p

Oh it’s just tea porn. I love your teapot. How big is it? Enjoy!!!

Sil select said

lucky! looks amazing

Dexter said

Ummm Sars that’s not a pu’erh starter kit – that’s hard core, and it is all AMAZING!!!! (now don’t buy anymore until you have figured out what nuances you like, don’t like, and how to recognize which pu’erh may/may not have them). ;))

SarsyPie said

LOL. Tea porn. :)

That’s about 8 oz, Boychik. I got it from Yezi. It’s the sort of glaze with intentional crackles that eventually become stained by tea. Ru ware, I believe. I really love the set. The finish is so soft, for lack of a better word.

Thanks, Sil!

Dex: I am on serious tea probation. I said before that I was on tea probation, and then THIS happened. But this time, I really mean it. Aside from the two orders that I already had planned, NO MORE TEA. It’s going to take me a very long time to drink all this anyway!

Uniquity said

OMG, I want to have tea at Sarsonator’s. STAT.

SarsyPie said

I would love to host a Steepster tea party, Uni! :)

House party at Sarsonator’s! We’re going to get tea drunk and…play Scrabble where every word has to have something to do with tea. Charades with a tea theme…Oh! Tea pong!

apt said

we’ll get blasted off that dank purp bud

purple bud puerh of course

Hillel said

Tea porn. Tea pong. Yes, we C. sinensis fans are a wild and crazy bunch. BTW, those of us in the Boston area have nailed down a date/place for a meet-up. It’ll be at a tea shop, so probably limited opportunities for tea pong, but the invitation is still open to join the fray.

SarsyPie said

OMG I am dying over here. You guys are hilarious!!!

I actually have supplies for all the games Marzipan suggested, including tea pong!

I wish Boston was closer. I think it’s something like a 6 hour drive for me.

lolz @ tea pong. Marzipan, you’re hilarious!!

I got my Dark Roast Anxi Tieguanyin from Whispering Pines today. Also got my box from Yunnan Sourcing’s US sale last week, with the Wild Purple Black tea I ordered plus tea accessories, and the Xiaguan Tibetan Flame mushroom for my friend to make his yak butter tea. Also got my box from white2tea with the 2014 Manzhuan, a pack of tuos (I think Menghai 2007, can’t remember what I ordered), and a number of samples approaching obscene generosity. These tea businesses are righteous and I will be back for more!

SarsyPie said

First of all, this is an awesome name for a tea: Tibetan Flame. Love it.

But secondly, where the heck are you able to get yak butter to make a yak butter tea?

boychik said

Wild Purple Black is awesome. I should get my YS tomorrow ( fingers crossed). Enjoy!

Hillel said

I’ve mentioned yak butter tea in conversation, saying that I’ve never had the sweet/salty/buttery real deal. Somehow, my wife found out about a Tibetan restaurant in Cambridge, Mass, called Rangzen (http://rangzenrestaurant.com/). She called to make sure that they prepare proper yak milk tea, then got me a gift certificate to go there. Can’t wait!

You are a brave man.

SarsyPie said

Hillel: I would really love a full report when your yak tea experiment happens.

Totally jealous of the yak butter tea. I really want to try that!

apt said

yunnan sourcing sells an instant version of yak butter tea. both sweet and salty. I think it’s under hei cha

SarsyPie said

That’s so funny, apt. I saw those yesterday!

Yezi Tea samples….that I totally don’t remember ordering.

lol! A nice little surprise. From the July 4th sale? What did you get?

Cheri select said

I love unexpected tea. :)

1x Jin Jun Mei Black Tea
1x Gao Shan High Mountain Black Tea
1x Shui Xian Da Hong Pao Oolong Tea

Cheri – oh really? What was in your mail? :D

Cheri select said

I haven’t gotten my mail yet today. (I’m at the office, but it generally doesn’t arrive until about 4pm during the week anyway.) Should I be expecting something unexpected?!?

But what I really meant was that it’s awesome to get tea that either someone randomly sent me, or that I’d forgotten completely I’d agreed to sample.

…..maybe!

Cheri select said

I wound up not getting home until after 1am. But I did open the surprise tea box as soon as I got there. Thanks so much, Marzipan!
