OMG, IT’S CHRISTMAS IN AUGUST!

Today, I got THREE packages! A tea swap package from Liquid Proust, containing Mizaki Oolong, Oriental Beauty, Dark Roast TGY, 2006 TGY Cake; Tea from Marzipan’s stash sale including Azores Orange Pekoe Black, Apricot Lavender Herbal, Four Horsemen Black, and Mint Chocolate Chip (smells like Thin Mints… YUM) and, finally, my long lost White2Tea sale package, including a Little Walk cake, Poundcake Sample, 30g each of “mystery” ripe and “mystery” raw, and what looks like a Little Gold Melon shou. I don’t know what to try first! #teajunkieproblems

Yeah I was pretty stoked when pu-erh.sk posted them. More than happy with both so far.

Does anyone of you tea lovers want to put their signature on tea boxes that are being sold in Bosnia?

Check this link below:

They are not actually offering any tea in return for your money. I could care less about getting my name on their website.

OK, this doesn’t count as receiving in the mail, but I just returned yesterday afternoon from 12 days with my family in London and Ireland and, of course, came home with tea. I am about to start tasting:

From Fortnum & Mason
Dong ding oolong
Yin mao hou golden monkey
Royal blend
Tumas devi temple second flush darjeeling
Formosa pouchong

From Postcard Teas
Keemun needles
Original gyokuro
Fuji sencha

As soon as I’m back in this time zone and my taste buds have recovered from lots of heavy English Breakfast with milk and sugar (pretty much the only thing they serve there), I’ll plunge into all this deliciousness.

Keemun needles: Sounds intriguing! I’ll look for your tasting notes on this one.

They told me it has a very smooth mouth feel and is incredibly cocoa-like – more keemun than keemun. We’ll see, but I can tell you that it smells amazing. Tasting notes coming soon.

Postcard Teas is a cool place. They only work with farmer/tea masters who have tiny plantations and carefully oversee every step of the process. The owners and much of the staff have been to every farm and know the growers. It was a little tricky to find, especially since I don’t know my way around London, but worth a visit if you’re there.
