Working from home today and my Aliexpress hat cups came! I was waiting so anxiously for these. They are so beautiful and delicate. I only ordered 4 and they sent 5 which is a nice surprise. Probably had to do with a change to the order. I don’t remember selecting either of the two cups on the bottom but they are still nice. I think my favourite is the blue one. So elegant.

Also want to say how well these were packed. Very very very well!

One does not order in fours…

This is a reality I witnessed in Tokyo this year. Quite interesting.

This is kewl, I’m gonna start ordering in sets of four, hoping to get lovely sets of fives.

That’s too funny. Thanks for that link Liquid Proust.

Psyck, I agree with you. I’ll just keep ordering in 4!

Two of these look exactly like the ones I bought from Teavivre: http://www.teavivre.com/blue-and-white-handwriting-bamboo-hat-shaped-tea-cup/

But I like the designs on yours better :-)

My Aliexpress order came in. I am looking forward to trying out that glass brewer (or gaiwan — whatever it is). They called it a glass tea set. It is a pitcher with a strainer to brew in the pitcher and a lid. That will come in handy for brewing Tai Ping Hou Kui.

I have no idea what it’s officially called – some companies call them test tube steeper – whatever it’s called I love mine and hope that you enjoy yours as well. :)

I have one from Verdant. They call it a test tube steeper. It’s a nifty thing.

What is the advantage to the test tube steeper. Its been on my list for a while.

I have one of these It’s like an easy steeper. You pull the middle part out after steeping and it pulls the leaf out leaving just the brew.

Agghh, this made me break my self-imposed teaware buying ban and place yet another Aliexpress order. Still at $7.45, it’s a pretty inexpensive yet functional steeper. Can’t wait to brew some dragonwell in it.

Here’s the seller I purchased from: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Glass-Teapot-With-Filter-160ML-Clear-Herbel-Tea-Pot-Heat-Resistant-Borosilicate-Chinese-Kung-Fu-Teapots/32464153349.html

Psyck , it’s not a mug because there’s a lip to pour like a pitcher. I too have the glass gaiwan. It’s good for some teas but hard to cram Tai Ping Hou Kui in it. Then I always burn my fingers on it.

So I couldn’t wait. Brewed my Tai Ping Hou Kui (which was one of my new teas from this company) in this test tube steeper. Oh , it so cool! This could become my everyday teaware for greens. I’m not sure the glass could handle higher temperatures for pu-erh and blacks. I plan on trying it with my Japanese teas. I thought the infuser part would have large holes in it but it has little slits that are very tiny. This may work fine for Japanese teas too. Dexter what do you use yours for?

Psyck said

Yes glass is nice for teas that do not require near boiling temperatures.
The glass mug that I linked above also has the same slitted holes like yours.
You can also use it for flowering/blooming concoctions.

I actually use mine mostly for blacks. I don’t use boiling water for black – normally 95C and mine handles this fine.

I got the October W2T tea club shipment today. Wow, so early, much puer. There’s a 100g mini ripe puer cake, 2 raw puer orbs, and ripe puer in a tangerine. Can’t wait to try them all.

I got my 5 for 5 order from Verdant yesterday, as well as my October White2Tea box.

The weird thing is that I still haven’t gotten my September W2T box – it was sent out and it’s gotten lost in transit. So when I heard I had a package yesterday, I was hoping it would be the September one. Feels weird to get the October one so early instead.

Paul from W2T knows about it and we’re working things out though, don’t worry.

Wow. October box already? I don’t usually get mine til the 8th of the month, so here’s hoping to getting it early!
