"Classic" bagged tea flavours
Ok, so I can not for the life of me figure out how to simply describe what I mean by this. But I am thinking of teas like Constant Comment, Bengal Spice, Lemon Zinger, Zen. I am wanting to help my staff navigate questions about whether or not we have teas that are like these famous favourites. however, i’m new to tea, and don’t really know of any other really popular ones.
I understand that this question is super weird and not very clear. But, if anyone can figure out what I’m talking about and has an answer for me, I’d really appreciate it.
Are you asking if there are loose leaf teas that are similar to those bagged teas, or if there are other brands that are similar (ie. Brand A tastes like Brand B)?
I think the best you can do is figure out what the tea is like. For example, lemon zinger is lemoney but also has a “punch” to it. So you need to sample other lemon teas to determine which tea tastes the same. I don’t think there is an easy answer, other than your employee knowing what each tea you sell tastes like.
Not sure if that is the answer you are looking for.
I once had a tea that tasted a lot like constant comment but I can’t remember which one. I will try to review my tasting notes to find it.
Could not find it sorry.
I’ve ruminated on this before! some friends and I were talking and came up with a little list…
I find Ceylon to be closest to Orange Pekoe.
Jasmine, dark oolong, or pu-erh is “that tea I had when we went for (insert Asian cuisine here)”
Sorry I can’t recall the other ones!
I’ve had a Royal Bengal Chai once, from Tea Emporium. Also, I think Tea Haus carries something called “constant commet”, I wonder if they are similar…
I do hear the Orange Pekoe thing all the time. I always inform customers that Orange Pekoe is grade of tea not flavor. Most of the time I do recommend a Ceylon.
Hahha, I do get that “insert Asian cuisine here” quite a bit.
Another one that I hear a lot is Lady Grey.
