I got really lucky and got one of the last Davids Tea advent calendars in the city! I’m so stoked. Looking forward to December now.

So I was in my local tea store today to pick up some tea and I was browsing. There was another customer in the store and she pulled out a crumbled brown paper bag of tea out of her purse. It looked like it had been through the dishwasher. She immediately started complaining in a very loud voice that she was from Victoria BC and she recently moved to this city. She bought her favorite tea, monks blends, from this tea store a couple weeks ago and it was so gross there has to be something wrong with it. She wants a complete refund despite drinking half of the tea already and despite there being no refunds on any tea purchases (clearly posted in store). The owner was so awesome. She calmly took the tea from the customer, opened the bag and looked at it and smelled it. The owner said the tea does not look or smell defective. The owner asked how the customer prepared it and the customer told her. The owner immediately said she had used too much tea and too long steep time, but then the customer said she had tried those parameters as well and it was still super gross. The owner actually took the tea and brewed it up right in store, and there seemed to be nothing wrong with it. The owner said this tea was actually one of her best sellers and she has had no other complaints. The customer actually stomped her feet and loudly proclaimed she was from Victoria. (My response at that point would have been: who cares!). But the owner was so good. She exchanged the tea for the customer for another blend, as picked by the customer. I think I should note the customer did not even look at or smell the tea she exchanged for, she just said I want that Christmas tea on that’s on the website. After the customer left, the owner apologized to me, but I just laughed, to each their own I guess. We then proceeded to have a great conversation about tea storage. I am so glad to be able to attend a small, local, tea store where the service is so great, even when it is not me that requires that really great service. Ha ha.

Nice, it’s good to see how that was handled so professionally.

Was that Cuppa-T Specialty Teas? I’m looking forward to stopping there when I come back in January for a late Christmas with my family. There are a few blends I have my eyes on ;)

(Unrelated, but also sorta related, if you’re not super busy firstish week of January we should go out for tea sometime while I’m up there!)

Roswell – Yes, it was Cuppa T. Jule is so awesome. My favs are red dragon warming tea, cranberry dragonfruit (although this is a summer blend), and candied almond black. I should be around. Well I will be around because I am working. Ha ha. Send me a PM and we can definitely meet up.

The Cranberry Dragonfruit is one of the ones I’m hoping to try. By summer blend do you mean it’s only available in summer? If so, that’s a shame… I’m waiting for the perfect time to try the candied almond you sent me – but for sure it’ll be before I come up (because I want to be sure I’m not missing out on an opportunity to buy more, if I happen to love it).

It is sold as a summer tea for cold or iced brewing, although I have to be honest, I have not needed to buy any since this summer as I stocked up, so I am not sure if it is still for sale or not.

So I was shopping for cheese this afternoon and noticed that my semi-local David’s is having a 40% off sale on a bunch of Fall/Christmas teas and teaware. How could one resist? I spent about 20 minutes wandering back and forth deciding what to get. As it happens, I wasn’t the only one tempted – I ran into greenteafairy! It’s a small Steepster world after all :-)

I ended up getting the stout teacups (multicolor leaf pattern), gung fu glass teapot, and 12-sachet sampler, all for under $20!

The website also has a 40% off sale, btw!

I had no idea the stores stateside were having the sale too! Thanks for the tip, I managed to pick up one of their teapots for a great price. :D

My Davids Tea was pretty picked over by the time I got there, but I did manage to pick up a red and blue retro cup with saucer that I’d been eyeing. Yay!

Yay! I found it! I felt weird posting in the ‘What did you get in the mail’ thread, so I hunted this down instead.

Picked up 6 Fandom sampler sets from an Adagio store near(ish) to me for myself (Doctor Who and Tales & Tea Leaves), Moraiwe (HP Potions & Game of Thrones), & Bianca G (Doctor Who & Game of Thrones). They were still on sale so uber yay! XD And they had some of the framed sets there so I was able to get a good look at those too.
I very nearly got myself the HP Potions and a Pokemon one, but I resisted the temptation since I’ll probly end up getting the smaller Potions set from the website eventually, and the Pokemon one I was getting mostly for the art and because I’m on a Pokemon kick right now (Playing Pokemon X). XD
I haven’t even gotten through the Nightvale sampler I bought a month or so ago. /hangs head/…I really need to stop buying tea. >>;

Edited for picture – http://tinyurl.com/FandomRun

Oh my gosh, I’m so jealous you’re able to just go into an Adagio! Part of me is hoping they’ll open one in my state since they’ve already got a warehouse on this coast but… well, we’ll wait and see.

Such great finds! Especially since you’ve got the full sized fandom sets on sale so you bet the jealousy is running high right now haha :)

The weather is finally starting to warm up a little, so I went shopping today for iced tea essentials! I finally found a glass pitcher with a lid (airtight no less!) at Sur La Table, and I’m so happy with it.

On impulse, I also stopped by Teavana (I know, I know) and got some paper filters for cold brewing. Not that I haven’t been cold brewing a lot without these things, but now I can kick it into high gear!

I thought I would share my positive in store Teavana experience. I was in-store solely to redeem 2 Starbucks rewards. As I was standing there deciding, they encouraged me to pick out the most expensive tea they carried including the golden dragon tea. So I walked away with 1oz of the $15/ounce golden dragon and $11/ounce zen pearls. Neither of which I would consider purchasing full price. They didn’t try to sell me anything else and were pleasant chatty and smiling the whole while. I know Teavana doesn’t have the greatest reputation for their CS but honestly, I don’t think this experience could have been any better.

I bought a couple sample sizes when I was out of town last weekend. It was a nice little shop too. (They had nice selection of rooibos).

Yesterday I rewarded myself for a job well done with a trip to David’s Tea. I got the blue gradient perfect mug: http://www.davidstea.com/blue-gradient-glass-perfect-mug So pretty! It’s lighter weight than I was expecting, but I love the ombre color.
