Tea and science. Hooray, science!
My husband and I were recently perusing the list of winners of the last several years’ worth of recipients of an award called the Ig Nobel awards (WELL worth reading if you need a laugh!), and we stumbled across something I thought people here would appreciate. Apparently, in 1999, the Ig Nobel award in Literature went to the British Standards Institution for their release of a “six-page specification on the proper way to brew a cup of tea.” :) Here’s the link, for those of you who, like us, weren’t aware of its existence:
Look familiar? XD
As far as I can tell, it’s mostly designed to provide a standard for those in the scientific community who wish to conduct experiments in which the brewing of tea is involved. Which then makes me try to imagine an experiment in which that might happen. Oh, the silliness of the scientific community, sometimes…
I’m now awaiting the 10 page detailed report on how to tie your shoe.
I know, right?
