Hey guys! Hope you have a wonderful weekend. We are thinking about a small tea party this weekend, but we need some new cupcakes ideas. Do you have any special recipes we could try this weekend? I know we can find many recipes on the Internet, but we would appreciate to try something authentic and new, so please share your cooking knowledge with us.
Not sure how well they would work for mini-cupcakes, but if you are looking for full size cupcakes, I have had good reviews with using a plain cake mix and pushing balls of chocolate chip cookie dough in the middle before baking, making chocolate chip cookie dough cupcakes.
My German chocolate cupcakes have also gotten good reviews: http://www.nicolesrecipes.com/prcake26.html That recipe doesn’t have the traditional frosting recipe included, it’s just for the cupcakes.
And here is a link to the Boston Cream Cupcakes that I make when I have time. http://www.nicolesrecipes.com/prcake57.html They take a bit more effort than the other two I linked but they are soooo worth it. :)
Nicole, How big of a ball of cookie dough do you use? That sounds both interesting and delicious! And are we talking vanilla mix, chocolate, or???
I have margherita ones I make if you want the recipe.
For a tea – something chai is good too – or matcha if you’re trying to stay with a tea theme.
Chocolate is always nicely paired with tea.
What teas will you be serving?
We love chocolate as much as we love tea. We would try to pair Nicole’s recipe with your margherita ones if you can give us the recipe. We would serve matcha and oolong to keep it really really Asian style.
Just received your message Darby, thanks once more! The tea party will be a success thanks to you and to Natalie’s German chocolate cupcakes!
I only do traditional Japanese tea sweets, which are hard to find…often go without too. Am looking forward to seeing the resultus of what you decide on!
What traditional Japanese sweets would you recommend to all the tea lovers out there?
I’ve tried a simple french vanilla cupcake recipe but I made it my own by infusing Art of Tea’s earl grey blend in it and it turned out wonderful. Made it much more moist. Here’s the recipe I used: http://www.theteacupoflife.blogspot.ca/2012/11/french-vanilla-cupcakes-infused-with.html :) Enjoy.
Np! Thanks :) Let me know if you try it. I’d love to know what you think!
Maybe not sweets, but, are there any snacks that go well with tea that aren’t loaded with carbs? I mean, I know a tiny cookie might not blow up the carb counter, but, I tend to like munching on things in general, and well, peanuts and cashews are decent, but, just wondering what other people may nibble on that isn’t bread, biscuit, or cookie?
Surprisingly, I find carrots pair well with black tea. I like the “sweet carrots” from my local farm market.
Maybe you will find this curious, but the combination of white tea with tuna salad always works for us.
Earl grey tea chcolate cake. I usually make it with half the sugar, but I prefer my baked goods to be less sweet. YMMV, etc. I use an earl grey special tea that has Jasmine green tea as well as black tea, and loads of bergamot.
